Question & Answer Portion- This portion requires each contestant to answer three questions posed to him or her by the emcee that was written prior to the event. Contestants are able to wear whatever outfit they choose want whether it is still the semiformal outfit or a more casual one. Penalties will be given to those contestants who deviate from the rules or say anything offensive. Preliminary Application- There will be a preliminary panel that will choose the six male and six female finalists based off of responses to the application questions. Once the contestants are narrowed down, the rules are simple. There will be six male contestants and six female contestants and there will be one male winner and one female winner. A panel of three judges will score each contestant and will collectively choose a winner based on the scores. All scores given by the judges are final. In the event of a tie, judges and event coordinators will reassess the performances of the contestants involved to determine the winner of the competition. The judges’ scores will be based on the following criteria: Entertainment Values- This competition recognizes that a good contestant is entertaining. This category will reflect that notion. Judges will score contestants on how entertaining their performance and talent portion are for an attentive, live audience. This will also include their song selection if they chose one. Originality- A well-rounded contestant must not only be able to perform a unique talent but also must be well-spoken. Therefore, this category looks largely at the contestant’s sociability, creativity and public speaking ability within the talent and question & answer portions of the competition. Crowd Reaction- This live competition is largely audience based. The crowd is an element that cannot be ignored. The judges will look to the crowd during the contestant’s performances and will score based on the audience’s reaction and involvement. Overall Performance- When all is said and done, the lasting impression the contestant had on the judges is of ultimate importance. The judges will, therefore, score the contestant’s overall performance and add it to the final score. Overall Answer Value- The judges will take into consideration each contestant’s ability to answer a question spontaneously posed to them. It must show their confidence to answer a question thoughtfully, as well as their originality in choice of words. Contestants will not be judged based on if it their answer is correct or not. The prizes will include one $100 gift card for each winner, a crown for the male winner and a tiara for the female winner. All contestants will receive medals at the culmination of the competition. There will be t-shirts for all the contestants, judges and all involved in the production that must be worn the day before (Wednesday, March 30th) or the day of the event (Thursday, March 31st). Contestants must promote this event by wearing the t-shirt, placing this event on their Facebook and/or Twitter account or other ways.
