OPEN DIVISION – Anything-in-the-chili-but the kitchen sink.
Contestants will draw for booth/cooking & prep space at 7:30am, Set-up is from 7:30-9 am.
A cooks meeting will be held @ 9 am for final instructions and to answer questions.
Contestants will be allowed to prep chili ingredients from 9:30 - 10 am. No ingredients may be precooked or treated in any manner prior to the start of cooking prep time @ 9:30am, except for canned
items, i.e., tomatos, tomato sauce, beans etc. Prep time will begin at the end of the cook’s meeting
prior to the Official 10 am start time.
Each booth/contestant will be permitted a maximum of three (3) persons in the cook area.
Cooking time begins @ 10 am and ends at 12 pm (noon), a maximum of 2 hours.
Contestants must supply their own cooking equipment. Electrical outlets WILL NOT be available.
Suggested supplies are:
A. Cooking Table, chairs,
B. Stove (Coleman fuel or propane)
C. Ice Chest, Water Supply
D. All ingredients for you unique recipe for award winning chili
E. Trash bags-----EACH PARTICIPANT IS RESPONSIBLE FOR REMOVING & PROPERLY
DISPOSING OF ALL TRASH FROM YOUR COOK-SITE
Each Contestant must cook a MINIMUM of two (2) gallons of chili.
Each contestant will be assigned a number by the chief timer and numbered bowls for the judges.
Contestants must verify that the bowl number matches their contestant number.
At the end of the official cooking period, one bowl per judge will be collected.
In the event of a tie, scores of taste and texture will determine the winner. Decisions will be final.
Cash prizes will be awarded for 1st , 2nd and 3rd place.
The sale of chili by any contestant or crew member before the final judges’ decision will result in
IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION.
ENTRY FEE--$25.00 Mail to SRACC Chili Contest, 2852D hwy 62/412, Highland Ar 72542. The entry fee
is non-refundable and must be received by September 5, 2014.
