Breast Cancer Survivor’s Support Group. Meets for 90 minutes,

Reach to Recovery is a visitation program that matches breast cancer
survivors with mastectomy and lumpectomy patients experiencing a
similar situation. The patient is provided with support in helping them

Provides mutual support and social interaction for women with breast

Look Good…Feel Better: This program is designed to help women who
are undergoing cancer treatment learn how to cope with appearancerelated side effects of treatment. Volunteer cosmetologists teach women
how to enhance their appearance using make-up techniques. Each
woman learns to perform her own makeover using complimentary
cosmetics and skin care products donated by the cosmetic industry. Look
Good…Feel Better is primarily offered in group sessions that provide

Resource Centers of Hillsborough County: Patients receive free wigs,
hats, scarves, turbans, bras and prosthesis free. Resource Centers are

The H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center is located in Northeast Hillsborough
County but serves women from the surrounding counties, as well as other
parts of the state and country. Although it provides a comprehensive array
of breast health services from outreach to treatment and support, it has
shifted away from in-house general screening mammography to focus
more on seamless diagnostic and treatment services as well as targeted
screening through a mobile mammography program to reach underserved
populations.

Breast Care Center provides diagnosis, treatment, screening, and
support. There is a cancer support group that meets once per month.
The center performs about 700 mammograms per month, and offer digital
and film screen mammography. They offer bone density testing,
stereotactic breast biopsy, and breast needle localization.

Florida Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (BCCP)
Services: Funded with a grant provided by the U.S. Center for Disease
Control (CDC) via the State Department of Health. The goal of the
program is prevention of death from breast and cervical cancer by
screening and early detection targeting low income, minority women, age
50-64 years. Any woman, however, with a personal or family history of
breast cancer, symptoms of breast cancer, personal history of cervical
cancer, or an abnormal clinical breast exam may be seen. This program
provides screening (clinical breast exam, pap test, pelvic exam,
mammogram), diagnostic evaluation, outreach, tracking, follow-up and
education for eligible women. Clients are seen by Rural Health Services.
Walk-in clinics or private physicians can also refer eligible clients to the

"Look Good...Feel Better" A free makeover program for women
undergoing treatment. Women are provided free make-up and learn to
apply it properly as well as tie turbans, choose wigs and other head
coverings.
"Reach to Recovery" A one-on-one breast cancer survivor visitation
program for women currently undergoing breast cancer surgery. The
patient is offered support information and a free "goodie" bag of items she
will need.
"Road to Recovery" A volunteer driver program to assist with
transporting patients to and from local cancer treatments.

G. Komen for the Cure via the Florida Suncoast Affiliate. Contact: Billie
Pryce. The goal of the program is prevention of death from breast cancer
by screening and early detection targeting low income, minority women,
less than 50 years of age, in particular a woman with a personal or family
history of breast cancer, symptoms of breast cancer or abnormal clinical
breast exam. The program provides breast cancer screening and care to
600 uninsured women ages 40-49 who are considered low income
according to national poverty guidelines. Screening, diagnostic
evaluation, education, outreach, tracking, follow-up, and case
management are available for Komen-funded clients as with CDC funded
clients. All participants will be seen at the Pasco County Health
Department clinic sites in five sites throughout the county, and
determination of which funding program they are in will be made at that
time. Clinic sites are in Hudson, New Port Richey, Land O’ Lakes,
Zephyrhills, and Dade City. CDC funded services are also available

Healthy Body/Healthy Soul is sponsored by the Health Choice Network, Inc. in
Miami, FL. Its mission is to ensure access to high quality, affordable health care
for patients, regardless of ability to pay. To do this, the Network assists member
health centers to improve the quality of health care services provided and
increase efficiency by integrating administrative, fiscal, management information
systems, program planning, and development, and clinical services. Health
Choice offers technical assistance and training as well as an array of other
services to all its members. Members include 7 Florida Community Health
Centers as well as health facilities in other states. It is a faith-based health
promotion program and disease prevention program implemented by Health
Choice Network and its member community health centers, churches in their
communities and other partners. One primary activity resulting from this program
is the provision of at least one “Healthy Sunday” even per year as well as followup for those participating in the event. East Pasco County through the Pasco
Regional Medical Center is one of the sites for this program. Other local
partners for this program include the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, the American
Cancer Society, health departments, the University of South Florida, the
University of Miami, Bristol Myers Squibb, and many others. The focus of this
group has been to strengthening existing/creating new partnerships, community
capacity building, create community-based health screening teams, identify a
health focus, and to develop buy-in and community/Community Health Center
ownership.

Services: a financial assistance program for breast cancer patients whose
income does not exceed 300% of the Federal poverty guidelines
(www.coverageforall.org/pdf/FHCE_FedPovertyLevel.pdf) and do not have
readily available assets, such as savings, credit cards, IRA/401(k), etc. The
program will provide up to $750 of assistance for insurance co-payments,
COBRA insurance payments, rent or mortgage, childcare and/or transportation
(i.e. cab, bus fare). Payment will be made directly to the source of the
service/debt when possible.

cancer centers and social workers.

March 2003, the Center for Cancer Care and Research, an affiliate with H. Lee
Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, is a collaboration between Watson Clinic LLP
and Clark and Daughtrey Medical Group P.A. The center offers up-to-date
screening and diagnostic services, innovative treatment strategies, supportive
care, and aggressive research programs. A second cancer care site in Bartow
