Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association Coaching Professional Development Program (CPDP) This is a professional development program for CCAA head and assistant coaches. The objective is to assist CCAA coaches in their training and development so that they can more successfully prepare student-athletes to achieve their potential. Professional Development The program is flexible to meet the needs and diverse learning opportunities available to coaches. Professional Development opportunities can vary, but some of the more obvious educational formats could be: NCCP certification Sport-specific professional development activities either at a national of international level Multi-sport professional development activities that bring together coaches from different sports. Criteria Must be head or assistant coach in CCAA sports. Must be fully certified NCCP Level II, or equivalent to apply for grants for NCCP certification Must be fully certified NCCP Level III, or equivalent to apply for grants other than NCCP certification. Grants Grants for NCCP certification or National or International Certification with respect to specific CCAA sports will be up to $500. Grants for other professional development opportunities will be up to $250 Application Dates Applications can be submitted to the CCAA Office throughout the year, the Coach Professional Development Program (CPDC) Committee will review your application and will respond to your application within 10 working days of receipt. Financial support will then be awarded to the successful candidate’s institution, pending available budget. CCAA Coaching Professional Development Program information, application forms and final report forms can be found on CCAA web site under member information. http://www.ccaa.ca/ CCAA Coaching Development Program Application Form Application Process Step One In order to ensure quality control of applications for the Program, all applications must be signed-off by ones Athletic Director or immediate supervisor at the institution before submissions go forward to the CCAA Coaching Professional Development Program Committee for deliberation. The Athletic Director must submit the application. Step Two Submit the electronic application including: I) coach information, a 100 pixel head shot of the coach, CCAA affiliation, CC# and level of certification and ii) details of the professional development opportunity [objective, activities to be undertaken (including dates, location, duration, clinic outline, brochure, website), and budget]. Step Three At the completion of the Program, recipients will submit a Final report to the CCAA Office summarizing the opportunity. Final reports are due within 30 days of the completion of the professional development activity. Included within the final report is a detailed description of a learning that would be valuable to other coaches. This information will be placed on the CCAA website.
