Biome Travel Brochure
“Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in a different part of the world? What would the weather be like? What kinds of animals
would you see? Which plants live there? By investigating these questions, you are learning about biomes. A biome is a community of plants
and animals living together in a certain kind of climate. Scientists have classified regions of the world into different biomes.”
You’ll be assigned one of the biomes you have read studied. This should be informative and visually please. The guidelines for the brochure
are below.

Must be on a sheet of 8.5 x 11” unlined paper.
Must be folded as a trifold brochure, with information on 5 sides. The front cover should have a title and include the name of the
biome.
Any color of ink or marker may be used as long as it is clearly visible on the paper you are using. Make sure your markers do not
bleed through the paper. You may also cut out picture from magazine or do it on the computer and download pictures.
Written information or drawings must cover 75% of each side used. You must have all the major information about your biome
contained in the brochure be descriptive and creative.
a. General Biome information
b. World Map Showing Location of Biome (not necessary for water biomes)
c. Climograph (Temperature / Precipitation) (not necessary for water biomes)
d. Fauna (5 examples)
e. Flora (5 examples)
f. 2 Food chain (showing at least 4 trophic levels) entirely constructed by students (animal pictures may be cut/pasted)
g. 2 Specific examples of how human activities are affecting the Biome
Your name, block and the class appear on the last page of the brochure.
Remember, this is a travel brochure-if you don’t make it informative and attractive, I won’t want to visit, and if I don’t want o visit
you won’t get a good grade!
Scoring:
Front page summarizes main focus in a headline/catchy
slogan and sets theme (5)
Uses facts, figures, and examples as support. All required
info about the biome is included (30)
The organization makes it easy to read and understand (5)
Attractive and neat presentation (5)
Vocabulary, spelling, and grammar are appropriate
and consistent (5)
Total points possible = 50
You May use Microsoft Publisher to make your brochure, but you must follow all the brochure guidelines.

Travel Journal
In class you will be asked to take a trip around the world (read student’s brochures) and write a travel journal with information about the places
you visit. This will be graded as a separate grade.
In each journal entry you must include:
1) Name of biome
2) Place of the world
3) Fauna and flora you saw
4) How the locals said the climate was like
5) Problems you saw about the way humans interacted with it
Your teacher will tell you how many biomes you will be required to visit and how you will be graded.
