The following units will be covered: Unit 1: Similarity, Congruence, and Proofs Unit 2: Right Triangle Trigonometry Unit 3: Circles and Volumes Unit 4: Extending the Number System Unit 5: Quadratic Functions Unit 6: Modeling Geometry Unit 7:Applications of Probability Materials Needed: Minimum 2-inch notebook (See below) Spiral Notebook Pencils Required Calculator: Either TI-30xIIS or TI-30XS Multiview Composition Notebook Analytical Geometry Notebook: A composition notebook is mandatory. This is due to our class not having a textbook, meaning that your notes and handouts will be the primary source of study material. It is critical that this material stay organized throughout the year. The notebook should be maintained both semesters in traditional classes in order to study for the EOC Georgia Milestone (test replacing the EOCT) at the end of the course. Tutoring: Tutoring is available before and after school. Each teacher will set their individual times. Extra Credit: Extra Credit assignments might be randomly given during the year. Any extra credit assignment WILL NOT be accepted late. Homework: Expect assignments each night and prepare to study hard for each test. Homework will be checked for a grade. This will be part of your formative grade for this class. Other formative grades will include warm-ups, class participation, quizzes and notebook signature sheets. Portfolio: You will be turning in a portfolio almost every month for a test (summative) grade. In your portfolio you will be responsible for keeping up with the work we cover in class. You will need to have a folder with dividers labeled and the work in date order. You will not be graded on right/wrong but on completion/work shown. The portfolio will contain the following (points for each section will be determined later): Warm-ups Classwork/Homwork Vocabulary Class DoJo If you are absent from class for any reason you must get the missed work. You can find this on my website (listed above). I will have a limited number of copies in the absent binder. Testing End of Course Test Information: The GA Milestones End Of Course assessment (EOC) is a state mandated series of assessments that will roll out this school year. The GA Milestone assessment will be designed to: provide a valid measure of student achievement of the state content standards across the full achievement continuum; Serve as the final exam for the course, contributing 20% to the student’s final course grade; Provide a clear signal of the student’s preparedness for the next course and ultimately post-secondary endeavors (college and careers); Allow for detection of the progress made by each student over the course of the academic year; Support and inform educator effectiveness measures; and Inform state and federal accountability at the school, district, and state levels. For more information on GA Milestone’s EOC’s please visit www.gadoe.k12.ga.us. Students in Analytical Geometry will take an EOC this year. Grade Recovery Policy A student may recover a Summative assignment provided that it was attempted when initially given. In order to recover a Summative assignment, students must consult with their teacher to obtain the remediation assignment. This remediation assignment may include, but is not limited to, correcting the formal assignment, completing extra assignments, attending tutorial session(s), and homework completion. The student must obtain the remediation assignment within three days of receiving the graded formal assignment that they wish to recover. The student must complete the recovery assignment within a time period to be determined by their teacher. FORMATIVE assignments (homework, quizzes, etc) MAY NOT BE RECOVERED. Grading of recovered assignment: The original assessment grade and the recovered assessment grade will be averaged together to determine your final grade.
