PROPOSAL FOR CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT WORK When developing curriculum, there are several options: 1. School time School time could mean planning time, in-service days, release time or other days. A lot of curriculum work currently occurs during planning time. In-service days are sometimes used for curriculum work but also need to be devoted to other school wide priorities. Curriculum grants are not awarded for curriculum development work completed during allotted school hours. While release time offers the benefit of team members working together, it is also the most disruptive to the teaching routine and we need to be judicious about our use of them. 2. Non-school time Another option is to work during non-school time. Non-school time means that department or team members would work evenings and/or weekends and during vacation time. The Curriculum office has some money that could be used for this purpose if a course or unit is new. If your department or team would like to apply for such money, please talk with your department head/subject area coordinator/team coordinator to ensure that the work is viewed as important and fits with the direction of the content area. If such is the case, please complete the following proposal form and submit to the Curriculum office. The amount of payment will be determined by the scope of the work and the amount of money available. The current rate allowed per day for curriculum work is 9,000 baht. Generally 3 days are allowed for a complete unit creation and up to 5 days for the creation of a new full year course. All work needs to be done in a UbD mapping template and placed in ISB’s curriculum mapping system. When work is finished, please indicate this and we will view the curriculum map. If you have other materials that aren’t displayed in the Curriculum Mapping System, submit those to the Curriculum office. The work will then be reviewed and names submitted for payment to the Business Office if it is complete and meets our curriculum standards. 3.
