JOB DESCRIPTION Consultant Radiologist Radiology - Whangarei Position Title: Consultant Radiologist ( MRI capability desirable) Organisation Unit: Radiology Location: Whangarei Hospital, Northland District Health Board Responsible to: Clinical Head of Radiology, Northland District Health Board Primary Functions of the Position: 1. To provide specialist services in Radiology to Northland DHB based at Whangarei Hospital 2. To participate as an effective member of the Radiology Department Team. Perform a range of diagnostic invasive procedures and other studies using contrast media of various types in accordance with credentialling requirements. Carry out or supervise Ultrasound examinations of various types with credentialling requirements. Participate in performing MRI and CT scans, Mammography (not mandatory) and/or interventional procedures in accordance with credentialling requirements. Participate in the on-call roster with other Radiologists. In consultation with other Radiologists, participate in leadership roles with regards to the Departmental modalities above. In consultation with the Clinical Head of Radiology and other radiological senior staff, actively participate in the effective management and planning of Radiology Department services. Key Responsibility Area Expected Outcomes In consultation with the Clinical Head of Radiology ensure that knowledge and skills development is ongoing and up to date with current trends. Quality Assurance Treaty of Waitangi Health & Safety In collaboration with other senior staff, assist in the provision of clinical direction for the Radiology Department. To set and maintain high quality standards in accordance with IANZ and Northland District Health Board for the Radiology Department acting as a role model. Participate as required in the investigations and resolution of complaints. Participate in the credentialling process of Northland District Health Board Develop and maintain personal professional practice in accordance with professional standards and ensure credentialling requirements will be met by supplying relevant educational information to the Charge MRT. Actively participate in peer group review sessions. Take part in Radiology department review meetings and teaching sessions. Participate in the provision of House Surgeon teaching and orientation sessions. Be involved in the Radiology Department teaching sessions and inter-departmental conferences. In accordance with Service delivery priorities, develop a career and continuing education plan which is reviewed annually. Ensure all documentation and processes are clear and meet the IANZ standards. Participate in meetings which relate to the improvement of service quality and Health and Safety. Contribute to the promotion of the principles of Treaty of Waitangi and the involvement if Maori within the decision making process for their health and independence, within District Health Board management processes and procedures Include the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi within all aspects of the role and its outcomes Ensure that consultation and engagement processes include appropriate mechanisms to meet the need of Maori in a culturally appropriate and safe manner Attend the Northland District Health Board Treaty of Waitangi Training Ensure compliance with designated responsibilities detailed in Northland District Health Board’s Health and Safety Policy and annual objectives Promote an environment of physical, occupational, cultural, ethical and legal safety Participate in the organisation’s Health and Safety Management training programme.
