Dear Yogis, Didi Nirmala and the VT team invite you to join in the volcanic linkup on every first Sunday of the month, from May 2007- May 2008. This takes place to help intensify our efforts for self-transformation. The bhatti seeks to link the fiery yoga and intense efforts of all Brahmins globally. The practice of volcanic yoga creates a 24-hour active link-up of light between Brahmin households and centres. There is a deep focus on a particular yoga stage each month. Classes and commentaries from the volcanic manual (available on the website) will develop the global concentration and focus for meditation during those 24 hours. Activating the links of the chain of yoga power: Small teams of yogis will gather in different households and centres in their city, so the whole BK family of that region is activated into generating a powerful fire of yoga. The bhatti becomes a combining with God through mind and heart creating an intense fire of love and transformation. Those linked to the global chain of yoga create an environment for Baba's power and magic to work wonders. There are 8 hours for each region. Within each region, countries or areas will link in to the bhatti for 2 hours minimum and up to 8 hours if they are free. Purity means that Brahmin life is an easy yogi life, a constantly pure life 17. Purity is my religion 18. Purity is the quality of My Home, my original land, the land of purity 19. Purity is also the memorial of the self, pure and worship worthy 20. Purity is the natural state of the sense organs when doing pure karma yoga 21. Purity is the state of my kingdom, the pure kingdom of the Golden Age 4 Practices to Develop Purity 1. I remain aware that I chose to follow this path of purity 2. I work and live with the understanding that by following purity my spiritual life becomes effortless, purity will give all attainments. 3. I accept the gift of purity from Baba at birth and I keep it safe. 4. Like Baba, I have come to establish purity on this earth. I have to give support to all souls while in relationship through my stage of purity. 5. I am an ancestor soul, an elder of all humanity. My responsibility is to others, to co-operate with them through my power of purity and good wishes. 6. Baba is the Ocean of Purity and He is offering me His friendship. So I must remain worthy of such a Friend. Any impurity in the soul means I am deceiving Him. 7. I revise this promise I have made to Baba at amrit vela and take power to serve the world by spreading rays of purity into the world. 8. Everyday when I write to Baba I develop my understanding of the significance of purity. World Volcano Meditation Commentaries HOLY SWAN Purity in consciousness, drishti, vritti, words and actions. Letting go of the consciousness of the body…I step into silence…turning my attention within. I stabilize my mind…and prepare to spend the next few minutes understanding and experiencing the stage of being a holy swan. The holy swan symbolizes the very special…original virtue of the soul…Purity. Without the foundation of purity…I cannot experience real and permanent peace and happiness. Purity is the mother…and all the other virtues are automatically present where there is purity. The speciality of the holy swan is its power to discriminate…to discriminate between pearls and pebbles…and imbibe only the pearls. To be a holy swan…is to be clean. A holy swan never adopts an impure or ordinary attitude towards any soul. With the power of discrimination…I understand souls’ intentions…and don’t become influenced by anyone’s ordinary or wasteful nature. As I imbibe these qualities and become a living holy swan…the decoration of purity becomes visible in my features. The sparkle of purity is visible in my drishti…the smile of purity is on my lips…and my attitude…words…and actions are filled with purity. This spiritual attraction draws souls close…even against their wish. It is the wonder of pure love…that even those who are like stone…melt. The personality of purity…has the power to transform souls…vibrations…and the atmosphere. It means greatness…and speciality in every action. I imbibe this personality…and become special. 5 Even BapDada is drawn to the beauty of my purity. In the subtle regions…BapDada is seeing me decorated with the trimurti lights…the light of purity…the light of completely pure and divine drishti…and the light of the jewel on the forehead. I see myself as BapDada sees me…an image that grants a vision…and brings transformation close. I remain in this intoxication. Om shanti. Topic 5: Being Brahmachari and Brahmacharya – Practicing Purity Seniors Classes 6th August – 2nd September 2007 1. Preparation for Rakhi: Pure dharna - Dadi Janki: GCH – 24/7/ 2001 2. Chart of Brahmin Efforts for Creating a Pure Life - Adapted from the chart for “Fixing my Role from the Beginning of Golden Age” Preparation for Rakhi: Pure dharna Dadi Janki: GCH – 24/7/ 2001 Now that Rakhi is coming, each one of us should practice in advance to adopt the final stage. Between now and Rakhi we will be able to accomplish a lot if we use all the powers of knowledge and go into silence. The powers will take us into silence. It is not that I can have these powers when I go into silence. Use the powers with understanding and common sense,. When these powers are not working, it is because I lack understanding. For example, to have the power to merge in a second is very useful. When you let go of the habit of going into expansion, you can become free of so many complications. Each one has his or her own speciality, virtue and proficiency as a gift from God. This gift is received from God as a fortune when you please Him. First, we receive His vision of mercy on us. We don't ask for this, but Baba casts His vision of mercy on us and then uplifts us from the dirt and takes us in His lap. He then gives us blessings. He has a treasure-store of mercy for us. No one else can have as much mercy as He does. Have all values active in life to such an extent that others are able to learn them just by seeing me. Virtues are not taught, but are visible through relationships, karma, and through one's face. Speak sweetly, speak softly, speak less. Speak the truth. If there is even a small lie mixed in my words, people say ‘I am honestly telling the truth’. However, one who speaks the truth will never mix in anything. What I speak should be simple, clear and sweet. Truthful words and actions donate a vision of my virtues. In today's world, people are pulled to extremes. They are either delicate or harsh. Either they cannot tolerate others or they are stone hearted. With Baba's vision of mercy, our heart becomes strong and filled with His mercy. Rather than a harsh heart have a strong and big heart. God has given us happiness, peace and love and this is why it is strong, this is why it is able to tolerate everything. 6 Why do people find it difficult to transform in today's world? They find it difficult to remain happy and peaceful and find it easy to remain peaceless and in sorrow. Shall we let our hearts become delicate or harsh? No, let my heart become open, clean, big, merciful; then it would give so much happiness. Let it become like Baba's heart. He offers to make our heart the same as His. He has made us strong so we are able to listen to the sorrow of others without becoming affected by them. Does the sorrow of other people penetrate me? Keep the self protected. In one second, I cure the sorrow of others like magic. That can only be done with the power of silence that I have attained from Baba. The knowledge I have received from the Father only works when I also have the power of silence. Then although there is pain in the heart it feels as though there was no pain at all, and the soul feels great comfort. My personal values need to become elevated. I have to follow the code of conduct and have very good manners. I should be completely detached, free from an attitude of attraction, a world benefactor who even uplifts those who defame others. Rather than thinking about what others have done I need to transform myself so that I become altruistic, egoless, free from attachment and free from attraction. There needs to be constant cheerfulness. Mercy, forgiveness and love should be ground into me. Let me make others forget everything that is negative to such an extent that no trace of such thoughts remains. We Brahmins are souls who are going to become deities. We have so much love for Baba because He has had a lot of mercy for us. He is giving us such elevated sustenance and so we want to become the same, worthy, honest, obedient and faithful. By saying ‘No’, I lose that fortune for all time. Mama never used to tell us anything about ourselves. Mama and Baba should have enough right over me to be able to tell me what is not right in me. I need to understand that, whatever I have done in the previous cycle, will be useful now because now, I belong to Baba. With the power of purity, I can change the intellects of others. Baba has taught us so much; He gives us sustenance to purify us. Who is the Purifier? Shower yourself in such knowledge every day. When you take a shower you don’t need to close your eyes or ears. However, to bathe in the ocean, you need to close your eyes, ears and nose, go beyond the senses and go into silence. We have to become introverted in order to understand ourselves. Unless I am introverted, my virtues are not visible. By being introverted, you can make the effort to break body consciousness. Souls who are going to be worshipped as saligrams allow themselves to be rubbed and made smooth with drops of water. Shiv lingums are never shaped by breaking or cutting, but instead they are shaped naturally by being rubbed against something. Saligrams are made of clay, but the image of Shiva is not made like that. Shape your specialities in the same way as shaping a saligram, naturally, by using the water of knowledge. Security people pay attention so that no one can come in without warning. Similarly, if a defect doesn't leave the soul, we need to check to see if there has been transformation. Whatever weakness or defect you have, give it to Baba and don't let it come back. What would Baba do with those things? He will only throw it into the ocean. By thinking about wrong things and selling them wholesale, you become unhappy. The ones who remain unhappy are ones who become servants. Constantly stay in happiness and pleasure. Those who are distressed commit sin and those who cause distress to others become great sinners. Neither be distressed, nor cause distress to others. Pay attention. Only when personal work on the soul is done can you become engaged in service. Why become so busy in service that your personal work on the soul is left undone? Is anyone going to listen to our excuses? When that work is done then, whatever is imprinted in our heart becomes useful. 7 Purity – The practice of staying viceless by being in the incorporeal stage Dadi Prakashmani (January 1997) To remain in this stage and to experience dead silence requires solitude The method to create a viceless pure stage Remember you are an incorporeal soul and you have to return alone We are the children and our world is one Baba. That One is our Mother, Father, Friend, Child, and Deity of all deities. This is why our entire world consists of that One. Our world is in that One. The one Dot is our world. So, our love is new, our customs are new, our friendship is new. We have all relationships with the One. Baba’s first shrimat or direction is: Children, forget the consciousness of your body and bodily relations and remember me alone. On this basis, I, the soul have become alone. The body and the household that belongs to it pull you down into body consciousness. We have to transform this too and become soul conscious. To think about and to practise being bodiless day and night is Raja Yoga. Raja Yoga means to go beyond the body and to remain in the consciousness of the original self. I am a soul and mine is the Supreme Soul. To remain in this stage and to experience dead silence requires solitude Sit in solitude and to whatever extent possible, stay beyond sound, beyond thoughts and beyond vicious thoughts, that is, stay in the incorporeal stage. This is the practice of the beginning and the end. This is manmanabhav. Young and old; all have to make full effort for this karmateet stage. The more we think about this study, day and night, from the time we wake up, the more all difficulties in our lives will finish. In order to become such an embodiment of remembrance, Baba has shown us many methods. From the time we arise, our timetable is such that, as soon as the eyes open, I, the soul, am present in the chariot of this body and say good morning. Consider the self as a soul, have a sweet heart to heart conversation with Baba, that is I go beyond this body and this world and sit in the home. First, we think and then we go to our home to play. Whilst playing, the inspiration that Baba gives is to practice controlling our thoughts, so we practice going up and down, up to the soul world and down, down in one second, beyond (to the soul world) in one second. Murli time, we listen to the murli of Murlidhar. At that time let there be the practice, ‘I, the soul, am listening to the supreme versions of the Supreme Soul through these ears. Baba is taking the support of these lips and is speaking. Whilst practicing this, you will easily create your incorporeal stage. The more you stay in the incorporeal stage, the more you will automatically create the stage of being viceless. The method to create a viceless pure stage The method to create a viceless stage is to stabilise the soul in the incorporeal dot stage. The more incorporeal you remain, the more you will also become egoless. These three supreme versions are the final versions we all received from Baba in the form of a mantra. If you consider these to be your mantra, then the question, ‘How can I be incorporeal?’ will finish. The gate for May to enter opens when you consider yourself to be a body. Then you have the feelings that this is your household, this is the old world you live in, that you are the one who has to fulfil responsibilities. However, when you come away from this, in one second, and realise that this is not your world, nor is it your household, but that it is Baba’s household. This is not yours and you are a little child and a student. When you decide this in the intellect, then, many types of Maya will finish. Baba has said that we have to fulfil the responsibility of the household. However, Baba has not said that you are householders. Some take Baba up on His words, saying that they are not householders, 8 but trustees. Yet, even though they consider themselves trustees, they sometimes become dishonest about what has been entrusted to them. We even have to go beyond this. This is not my world nor am I a worldly person. I belong to Baba and this is Baba’s world. These are such sweet words through which all difficulties finish. All the things that cause confusion finish. To consider it to be your household means to open the gate for Maya. Sometimes Maya will come through the attraction of the body and sometimes through the consciousness of ‘yours’ and ‘mine’. Then you have to spend time conquering this. You think you are warriors and the storms will therefore come. But stop wasting time in this game of sometimes experiencing victory and at other times defeat. If you continue with this game, you will dance around in the world of negative thoughts. Your time will be lost in ascending and descending. Keep faith that I belong to Baba and Baba is mine, neither am I a householder nor is this my household. My Baba alone attracts me and decorates me. Don’t look at anyone, but at just the One. No one is mine. If you want to look at someone, look at the six and a half billion or just look at One Baba. Remember you are an incorporeal soul and you have to return alone Always remember, you are an incorporeal soul and Baba is also incorporeal. To practise this is our study. If you think we are brothers and sisters this consciousness also brings you down. So, always have the consciousness that this is the world mother (Brahma Baba) and this is the World Father (Shiv Baba). Through this, the consciousness of ‘my wife’ and ‘my husband’ will finish. Baba has given us the duty not just to serve one soul but the whole world. We are not living simply to eat and drink. Therefore, your time, thoughts and wealth is not for yourself, but for God. Those who eat for the self are also thieves. When you use for yourself, desires and temptations will increase. We are on God’s service and eating is simply to give grass to the horse. Only through your original stage can you do service. Keep your chart accurate and make the soul cool. Keep all the powers with you. When it is time to merge something, merge it. When you have to face something, face it. At some time, if something needs to be tolerated, then tolerate it. If you say you don’t have a particular power, it means you aren’t having yoga. If you want to remain yogyukt then always keep every power with you. Our life is only to serve Baba. The destiny of knowledge says that I am alone and I have to return alone. Always consider yourself returning alone and you will never be attracted towards the body. You have to go beyond the religions of the body. We now have to return to our sweet home of silence. Developing and keeping celibacy – Brahmachari and Brahmacharya Dadi Janki (no date) Being free of impure attitudes Remaining desireless and detached Celibacy enables us to follow Brahma Baba. Baba has given us the sign that our celibacy should never be broken. Of course what is also required is total faith, but there should also be an unbroken stage and attitude of purity, because our attitude of purity is the foundation of our drishti. Where there is stability in our attitude, with such a level of Brahmacharya it becomes easy to follow Brahma Baba. This experience of purity begins when we take birth to Baba, because this is the time of our spiritual childhood. Brahmins, as they develop, come to understand the value of purity. We realize that we must become pure from within, not just pure in actions. Purity means absolute cleanliness in thoughts, eyes, 9 behaviour, food, drink, speech, and relationships. When such an effort becomes natural we can then lead an elevated and pure life. The experience is that now we belong to the Brahmin clan and so our brain becomes so cool. There is such coolness, tranquillity, and serenity in purity. Being free of impure attitudes When we can maintain an attitude of unbroken purity this then makes us supremely worship worthy. We are free of any impure attitude or drishti that could create an impure action. Shiva is praised as the Truth, The Pure One, and the Beautiful One, so when someone has real, accurate purity, that Bal Brahmacharya makes that one very beautiful. If we hold ourselves stable in this stage and look at our face, it feels so good. Baba’s song is, ‘look at your face in the Mirror of your heart, oh living being’ So, in your inner mirror, look at your face. Those who are introverted regularly check their inner face and keep the mirror on the inside clean. If the mirror of the self is clean then any weakness would be visible and would be cleaned off immediately. With clear wisdom and deep understanding, the soul removes the ego and lives life on the basis of Baba’s wisdom. By developing a powerful stage, weaknesses and deficiencies are destroyed and our stage remains stable. A hidden weakness will cause our stage to break. Even with a lot of effort our stage will not remain stable and attainments from Baba will not be experienced as permanent. To experience stable and permanent attainments we need to keep our attitude very pure. This can be achieved through keeping a stage of soul consciousness and keeping companionship with Baba. When we are soul conscious we come into close companionship with Baba. With Baba’s company we can play our part as the detached observer, come into relationship, and do our work. Internally I experience that my vow of purity remains unbroken, my attitude remains pure and unchanged. It is this kind of attention that I need to develop. Remaining desireless and detached There is a connection between the attitude that is desireless and the stage of complete detachment. You must ask yourself in your heart if you have any involvement anywhere. Judge internally if you have any pull towards someone or an attraction. If you do then this will not allow you to have the stage of Brahmacharya. Attraction and attachment will prevent you from having that permanent state of celibacy. Harm comes because attachment creates desires. Attachment also brings up the question of whether to submit to someone. Then greater effort is necessary to maintain self-respect. Attraction towards someone will also reduce self-respect. So to maintain self-respect we need to remain internalized and focus on our awareness of the original and eternal stage. With this stage all desires will finish. Also, through the desire to maintain this stage all desires will finish. Being in that eternal form you are combined with Baba. There is the experience that ‘I belong to Baba and I dwell with him in the soul world’. This awareness of our eternal form purifies the soul from the inside. We need to hold onto the stage of being a dweller of Paramdham with Baba. Baba directs us to remember Him, the Father, in the home. Through this our negative karma is burnt and we become pure. Then we experience our original form. Baba speaks of the end of the night of Kaliyug and the dawn of the golden age. Our faith in this is based on experience rather than intellectual understanding. We recognize that our part of being with Baba has come again. We used to be with him and we will be with him again. This awareness of our original and eternal form has returned to us. Through this we can see how our first sanskaras of the Golden Age emerge. Baba tells us to rehearse this experience of emerging our deity form here, now, because we cannot rehearse it in the Golden Age. We stabilize in our eternal stage; ‘I am Baba’s child who dwells in the soul world and Baba’s home is my home. My remembrance of the home becomes so strong that I feel that this is 10 where I dwell. By understanding the original, detached state of Baba, which is filled with love for everyone, the some develops those same sanskaras and Baba also fills the soul with them. We learn the detachment that enables us to play our part with Baba. At the Confluence Age we have connection with all souls. All souls have come down now. Baba comes when all souls of all religions have come down, because up there you can’t know about God, but down here you can. Together with us all souls must know Baba; where he resides, when he comes, what he does and doesn’t do. Maintain respect for everyone. This stage and attitude of purity needs to remain unbroken, keep checking and then we will sit in Baba’s eyes. What is Purity Didi Nirmala Indraprusth (No date) Purity is positivity. In its original state the soul is pure gold and then through the cycle the alloy gets mixed in. So purity means being totally viceless. Celibacy is the first step for a soul that is becoming pure. Sex lust is impurity at the material level. To conquer the material level is not so difficult but the family of attitudes and actions associated with sex lust is harder to transform. Familiarity is one attitude associated with sex lust. Being very friendly with someone and telling them all your problems. If we relate everything to human beings, instead of Baba, then gradually we start expressing our heart to someone. Baba is the Comforter of Hearts. We have to be careful not to take such support from another human being. The desire may be good, we may start with a good aim but there is the danger of getting caught in Maya and then it can be difficult to come out. In relationships, to avoid being caught up in attraction or distraction it is essential to maintain soul consciousness and to constantly check the self. When we bring another close to us, the first pull is that of familiarity and then the name of the person remains on the tip of our tongue, and the form of the individual comes into our mind. This is what Baba calls love for name and form. Unless I have all relationships with Baba as Friend, Companion, Mother, and Father I will have trouble keeping close and having conversation with Baba. Another action associated to sex lust is being impressed by another human being. It may be because of the way they talk, behave, or it could be a subtle thing. Even the way they give or understand gyan may impress us. We need to be aware that this is Baba’s gyan, power, and knowledge. Someone has become virtuous because of Baba’s company and knowledge. To prevent being impressed or attracting others to myself I need to be singing the song of ‘Wah Baba Wah’ all the time in my mind and heart. Otherwise I end up singing a song about another or drawing the thoughts of others towards myself. Neither should we praise others or subtly accept others praise. Otherwise, first we are impressed, and then attracted, and then we try to be in their company and be familiar. If I remain soul conscious, and in the observer stage then I will be able to check for any such weakness. Material desires are also associated with attraction to the physical world. If I have love for my clothing then less love will be experienced for others because my thoughts are going here and there to material things. But if I am in a powerful consciousness then the nature of feeling attracted to the physical or being physically attractive to others will decrease. This is why our vision for everyone needs to be completely pure, even on a subconscious level. If you remain soul conscious and close to Baba, and if your motive is completely pure, a relationship will not develop in the wrong way. Whenever we talk with others when it is about gyan it keeps our mind focussed on Baba and the meaning of our Brahmin life. Then relationships do not become subtle supports, since we are taking all support from Baba. Thoughts do not develop that it is easy to talk with them, or they understand me. When we are caught up in the push and pull of relationships we need to be careful also not to push away those for whom we have feelings of dislike or fear. To deliberately stay away from 11 someone, or keeping them at a distance is also wrong. Like Baba we develop relationships of spiritual love for all. Helping each and every one, caring for them, making sacrifices for them is true love. This is where the title World Mother comes from. Baba’s love is unlimited and we imbibe it number-wise. Baba loves everyone. Pure Spiritual Vision – The First Lesson Celibacy of body and mind BK Surya – Gyan Sarovar – no date Alokik Drishti – pure spiritual vision The Observer Stage – Influence Free Stage Raja Yoga and celibacy Natural purity: Becoming immune to the effect of action and reaction The first lesson Baba gives us is about spiritual vision. This helps us to understand that a yogi’s perception and contemplation are very profound. We realize that with the vision of a yogi we can have the power to transform the universe, and through contemplation we can emerge Truth or Reality in this world. For us as yogis the world is dead, the body is mortal. So although we can see this world of bodies and matter we don’t see it. Rather as yogis we us our power of sight and insight to visualize the invisible entity of the soul, the essence of life. This visualizing brings blessings to myself and to others. The vision of the soul in the mind’s eye brings me to an elevated stage of consciousness. As Baba says: ‘The moment your eyes naturally see only the soul, the shining star, in the forehead of everybody, the attention or attraction of all human beings will be on you – the shining stars – souls.’ Seeing others as souls in this way is an easy practice. When I realize that the soul is a point of energy, a point of light – situated in the centre of the forehead, and then I also gain the understanding that the body is the vehicle through which the soul operates. The soul is more important since the soul is imperishable, and the body is perishable. So now we start to concentrate our attention on the soul rather than the body. We can develop our spiritual perception as the basis of contemplation and yoga. We know that if for the whole day our thoughts are on external relationships and situations then our mind can’t become stable even for a moment. The root cause of this tendency to have thoughts about external things and situations is our vision. So, if we practice using our inner vision, if we visualize with understanding that I, myself and others are souls then this insight will stabilize and concentrate our thoughts towards spiritual things, and away from the world of matter. We experience that this transformation in our thoughts and feelings allows us to have yoga, and so then we can contemplate and deepen our study more easily. This creates an alignment between the spiritual principles we follow and the practical efforts we make to study murli, have yoga, and practice purity and dharna in our relationships. Alokik Drishti – pure spiritual vision We need to fully realize the importance of developing this power of spiritual vision. When we look at others with a spiritual attitude, we ourselves then become soul conscious. Ultimately this practice of spiritual vision brings the seed stage of yoga – the highest stage. But this will only develop if we practice throughout the day seeing others and the self as a soul. This awareness of the soul residing between the eyebrows will influence our thoughts and awareness. This focus on our fellow human beings as souls, creates a feeling of patience, coolness and cheerfulness in our relationships. As the practice of seeing the self and others as souls intensifies there will be the feeling that the soul world is merged in this world of matter. You will experience that only souls are visible, it is as if the 12 two worlds of Paramdham the incorporeal world and the material corporeal world have merged together. This practice will enable us to experience the sweet silence of the incorporeal world while we are acting in the world of matter. The Observer Stage – Influence Free Stage Being an observer is a unique state of mind. Through this we can experience bliss and thoughtlessness and ultimately become stable in the seed stage. As we practice the vision of soul consciousness we learn to spin the cycle of self realization (swadarshan chakradari). We deepen our thoughts and becomes aware of our virtues and spiritual nature and we also gain realizations about the spiritual nature of the world around us. We become aware that although we are wearing many different bodies, each soul around us is acting out their role, and we are all playing our parts together on a huge world drama stage. We start to watch this drama, as an observer, and watch each scene play itself out. This awareness, as an observer of the world drama, makes us fearless and carefree. Even when we reach the point of destruction of bodies and matter at the end of Kaliyug, we will experience this stage of onlooker, influence free stage. Watching this drama reminds us of the role Baba wants us to play in sharing our understanding with others, so they can also become free and aware of their own powers and virtues. Physical celibacy and the brain One brother has asked me to share this point with everyone in class. Many non-BK’s ask us why celibacy is essential for Raja Yoga practice. Can you practice Raja Yoga without being celibate? Before giving this answer, the doctors sitting here need to be aware that our present medical science research on celibacy is not yet complete. If we give researchers a theme, then they will do the work, but there is very little research on why celibacy is important. In particular, even though it is mentioned in the scriptures, they haven’t researched how children could be born in a golden age with the power of yoga. But if we give them these ideas then they can start to research. However, doctors have told me a few things that I will share with you so you can churn on them. We know that we have to concentrate our mind and intellect on God who is ever pure, Supreme, and Almighty. Moreover, we know that, in order to take our mind and intellect to Baba we need a powerful brain so we can focus and concentrate. I’m talking here about the physical brain, not the non-physical mind and intellect. The brain is like a super-computer through which the mind and intellect work; the soul, consisting of the mind and intellect, is the operator of the brain. The energy of sex-lust for most people is a material energy that can go either downwards or upwards. The energy of sex-lust is wasted if it goes downwards. Because the body is impure in Kaliyuga, yogis need to make effort to force it upwards. By making the effort to practice yoga, this energy rises up and passes from one gland to another. It goes from the first gland to the second, third and fourth and then up to the eighth gland. In spiritual language, people use the word chakras for glands. The material energy of sex lust is stored in the gonad gland (in spiritual language they call this energy shakti, might or stored power). As the energy is moved upwards by yoga power, part of it is absorbed in the second chakra, some in the third chakra, and so on. As it moves upwards it becomes subtler and subtler and then the last charka it supplies is the brain. This material energy then turns into subtle, divine energy. This subtle energy empowers and divinizes our brain. If we don’t supply this energy to the brain, the brain becomes weak and we can’t concentrate. Baba says that those who are weak in purity find it hard to concentrate and experience yoga. Therefore, celibacy is a must. Without celibacy no-one can become yogi. One doctor told me how children are born with the power of yoga. He said that just as we yogis use the energy of concentration to connect with Baba, deities use the same processes to connect with each other. In the golden age the material energy of sex lust is not wasted. It naturally rises upwards 13 and energizes the glands of the body because the body and soul are pure. The energy then goes into the brain and then, through the eyes, it is transferred from male to female. The doctor said it was a simple matter and in this way children are born through the power of yoga. So for deep yoga with Baba we must collect this material energy of sex lust to make the physical brain strong and then we can concentrate and focus our power of thought. With this strength, then our each thought creates energy. If thought is negative, it will create negative energy; if thought is positive there will be positive energy. If we concentrate our thoughts, every thought becomes very powerful. Each thought will play a very important role in transforming the world. Celibacy of the mind through developing spiritual vision A common problem faced by Brahmins is that they are still affected by people and situations around them. Where we practice developing spiritual vision this influence is neutralized. Maintaining celibacy in the mind through this pure vision of soul to soul, brother to brother, bhai bhai drishti, there is immunity from the vibrations of the world around us while we are in action. Neither the vibrations of human beings or matter will affect us. The purity of the soul to soul vision purifies the negative vibrations of the human relationships and matter. Looking at the body just pulls the mind towards attractions of the physical world. But by having spiritual vision, seeing others and myself as soul, we are freed from thoughts of the physical world and this reduces and simplifies the thoughts in our minds. Waste thoughts are naturally neutralized. Spiritual vision also emerges deep love and good wishes for the self and others, and then the feeling of mercy for others becomes natural. Negative attitudes of hatred and jealousy remain merged and we remain merged in company with Baba as our Friend, Teacher, and Parent. Spiritual vision broadens our understanding and gives us the power to pass this on to others so they can forget the body and body consciousness. Just as Baba sees us all as souls, so our vision becomes equal in relation to all souls. The world of matter appears simply as a stage and we are no longer pulled by it. Experiencing this freedom from the influence of the body and human relationships we can experience that a canopy is over us, protecting us, there is the safety of having all relationships with Baba. Ultimately, this intense practice of spiritual vision on the self and others brings us to the highest seed stage of awareness.
