Henry Beck of Alexandria, (Monroe Twp.) is Found Dead
Henry V. Beck, age 78, well-known farmer, was found dead in bed at his home near the
Epworth church, east of her this morning. Mr. Beck lived alone and was found dead by
William Bertram, a neighbor. Lung trouble is supposed to have caused the death.
Mr. Beck had lived near Alexandria for a long time. His wife died in 1914. He is survived
by the following children: Mrs. Edward Ellsworth, Alexandria; Burl Beck, Gaston; John
Beck, Summitville; Mrs. Lewis Todd, Muncie; Mrs. Art Millspaugh, Mathews; Mrs.
Leonard Slain, Mathews; and Mrs. Robert Johnson, Losantville.

Mrs. Beck is Dead at Summitville
Wife of Retired Farmer passed Reward Early this Morning
Mrs. Nancy Beck, wife of Henry Beck, a retired farmer residing in Summitville, age 69
years, died this morning at an early hour of a heart trouble.
Mrs. Beck is survived by a husband, five daughters, two sons, one brother and one
sister. The daughters are Mrs. Cornelia Johnson of Randolph Co.; Mrs. Rena Ellsworth,
of Summitville; Mrs. Myrtle Todd and Mrs. Fleetie Millspaugh, of Jasper County. Mrs.
Artie Slain of Matthews; the sons are Byrl Beck and John Beck of Summitville; a brother
Andrew Hoppes, lives in Summitville, and Mrs. Polly Cox, a sister.
The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock and interment will be made
in (the Odd Fellow Cem.)

Mrs. John Beck Dies
Mrs. Ida M. Beck age 60, wife of John Beck Jr., died at 8 a.m. today at the family home
in the north edge of Summitville. Funeral service will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at
the Methodist Episcopal church. Burial will be in Vinson Cemetery. Besides the
husband, Mrs. Beck is survived by a sister Mrs. Anna Smith of Elkhart and a brother,
Jacob Craig of Marion. (No Children)?

Pioneer Expired near Alexandria
Eijah W. Beck age 88, pioneer farmer of Monroe Twp., residing four miles east of
Alexandria, died at 4:15 a.m. today at the family home following an illness of ten days of
complications.
He had been a resident of the twp., for 31 years, and all of that time had resided on the
same farm on which he died. He owned considerable farm property east of Alexandria.
He was born in Daviess County, NC in 1844, and was married in 1873 to Selah Ann
Webster, of Summitville. He was formerly owner of the old English hotel.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Selah Beck, Two sons, Braxton and Perry Beck, both of
Alexandria, and a grandson, Herman Manring, of here. (Who’s the dau?)
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. from the family home with Rev.
William Cunningham and Rev. G. W. Winfrey in charge. Burial will be in the Vinson
Cemetery.

John Beck, age 82, retired farmer living three miles north of Florida Station, expired
yesterday at 2 p.m. at the family home following an illness of one year. He had lived in
this community for many years, and was engaged in farming for a long period.
The body was removed to the Earl Sells Funeral home where it will lie in state. Funeral
services will be held Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at the Ironwood Christian Church, near
Frankton, with Rev. Mike Gray in charge. Burial will be in Neese cemetery, near
Perkinsville. Surviving are three children: Mrs. John Gray of this city; J. R. Beck of
Peoria IL; and William Beck of near Ovid. His Wife Charity Beck expired two years ago.
(I can’t tell if this is our John Jr. – wife Ida’s obit didn’t mention kids, unless he married
again late.)
