ONE WORLD ALUMNI DINNER 2014 NOMINATION FORM ONE WORLD ALUMNI DINNER 2014 NOMINATION FORM The 4th Annual One World Alumni Dinner will be held at Homecoming in October, 2014. The Alumni Association invites alumni to nominate a charity to be the 2014 beneficiary. Please complete the following form and submit to the Alumni Office by Friday, February 28, 2014. GOAL OF THE ONE WORLD ALUMNI DINNER The award winning One World Alumni Dinner (OWAD) was designed to align with the academic plan of Saint Mary’s University. The plan places a priority on building a tradition of community involvement, fostering a culture of civic engagement and ensuring that social responsibility is recognized as a hallmark of Saint Mary’s University. The Academic Plan also recognizes that the ultimate objective of a Saint Mary’s education is to nurture and support productive, critical and responsible citizens. The goal of the OWAD is to increase alumni involvement with Saint Mary’s University, to raise awareness of Saint Mary’s in both local and global communities, while at the same time reaching out to our alumni as responsible and caring citizens of the world. The OWAD Selection Committee, comprised of members of the SMU Alumni Association, will select a charity which has a connection with Saint Mary’s University or an alumnus who is touching lives with the work they do. Recognizing the limited impact that can be made with a $10,000 contribution, the OWAD committee will favour organizations that are helping people on a more local and grassroots level. The selected charity is expected to work with the SMU Alumni Association to sell tickets/tables for the dinner (approximately half of the tickets are expected to be sold be the partnering organization. Event capacity is 200 people).
