
Behaviour Support Manager, Michael Jenkins is currently working towards a Higher
Apprenticeship for Care Leadership and Management (England). He also holds NVQ 2 and 3 in
Promoting Independence, British Sign Language Level 2, Deaf/Blind Level 3, as well as a range of
compliance certificates, including Mental Health, Equality & Diversity, Infection Control and
Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and PTTLS Level 4. Michael also has Senior Trainers Level 3
status through NAPPi UK (Non Abusive Psychological and Physical Intervention), which is
updated annually. Michael is also a trained trainer in Autism Awareness.

Senior Practitioner –Diplomas & Best Practice is Ruth Smith. Ruth has over 36 years of
residential care experience. She has a Diploma in Welfare Studies, D32/32 Assessors award,
PTTLS and a range of care qualifications including her internal Verifier qualification.

Deputy Manager – Michael Lucas. Michael has 25 years’ experience of working with children and
young people with additional needs. He has worked with deaf children and young people,
persistent young offenders and young people with Autism (and associated behaviours) within a
children’s home setting. Michael spent time working in Australia supporting Aboriginal children
in their education. He holds a City & Guilds in Care, Certificate of Welfare Studies, NVQ level 3 in
Care of Children and Young People and is currently working towards Level 5 in Care
Management of Children and Young People.

Deputy Manager – Lisa Mitchell. Lisa has 20 years’ experience in residential care. Lisa has
worked in Children’s Homes settings for over 8 years and has worked with children with
challenging behaviours, learning disability and young offenders. Lisa holds a City and Guilds
Level 3 NVQ in Health & Social Care in children and young people and Level 2 certificate for the
Children and Young Peoples’ Workforce. Lisa also has a range of compliance certificates such as
Developing Self Esteem, Drug and Alcohol Awareness, Health and Safety, Paediatric First Aid,
Understanding and Management Challenging Behaviour and NAPPi Level 2.
There are currently seven residential team leaders who each supervise the residential teams. These
teams range in size from three to sixteen members in the main. There are twelve Senior RSWs who
deputise for the team leaders in their absence within the residences. Each Team Leader is
supported by at least one senior, larger teams and teams that work in our full year provision will
have additional seniors dependent on the size of the teams. The Senior Support Worker role is being
further developed. Absences and holidays are managed by using our own Sessional/Bank
Workforce and agency staff.
All the Care and Senior Management teams are trained and qualified in Safer Recruitment in
Education and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
Team Leader Qualifications include:

Maintenance Staff
There is a corporate maintenance team who carry out a wide range of general, specialist and
refurbishment projects of the Trust’s premises. The maintenance staff are all skilled tradesmen.

Other Specialist Staff
Our specialist team includes occupational therapists, physiotherapists, educational audiologist,
speech and language therapist and vision advisor. All our specialist staff have nationally recognised
qualifications in their specialist field. The Nurses are all state registered nurses.
