Regulations for Boys
(All parents and students are requested to read them carefully)
1. School Uniform
(a) All students should attend school properly dressed.
Summer uniform: white open-neck shirt with buttons, except the first one, fastened
up and with the school badge sewn on four sides onto the pocket,
and white shorts or trousers. The shirt must be tucked in.
Winter uniform:
a blue blazer with pocket badge, white shirt and school tie, and grey
flannel trousers. Sweaters must be either grey or navy blue in
colour. Fancy T-shirts and track suits are NOT allowed.
(b) Students must wear black leather belts. Belts made of cloth or other materials are not
allowed.
(c) Students should wear leather shoes or sports shoes. Leather shoes should be black. As
for sports shoes, the basic colour should be white, and the laces should also be white.
Boots and sandals are not allowed.
(d) Students should wear white socks (if wearing shorts) in summer. White, black, or grey
socks are allowed in summer and winter when they wear trousers.
(e) Students should wear full school uniform at all school functions whether inside or outside
the school.
(f) Hairstyle should be simple. Fancy hairstyle, dyeing and curling are prohibited.
(g) Class T-shirt is not allowed in normal school days.
(h) When the temperature falls below 12°C in the urban area, boys are permitted to wear
plain overcoats other than the blue blazer. In addition, students may also wear plain
coloured scarves ( black or grey ) to keep warm.
(i) On occasions when students are allowed to have casual wears for their normal school
days ( school picnic; clean QC day ); they must wear their metal school badges for
identification and security purposes.
(j) On non-school days, students have to deposit their student identity cards at the main
entrance when come back for activities. They have to get their identity cards back when
leaving the school.
2. Care of school property
(a) Boys must take care of the school property. In particular, hands must be kept off paint
work; paint work must be left fresh and clean. Nothing must be stuck on walls or doors.
(b) Any damage to school property must be reported at once to the Principal and the
person causing the damage may be required to pay for it. Every boy is expected to look
after his own desk and chair in the classroom.
(c) Boys must not play with chalk.
(d) Boys are not allowed to kick balls within the school premises. They must not play ball
games in the classrooms or on the corridors.
(e) Boys must not walk on the lawn.
3. Movement in corridors and on stairs
Boys must walk along the left side of corridors and the stairs. Running is at all times
forbidden.
4. Manners and courtesy
(a) At all time boys should behave well at school and in public.
(b) Good manners should be practiced at school when boys meet their teachers or
schoolmates for the first time in the morning or afternoon, they should give greetings: i.e.
“Good Morning”, “Good Afternoon”. For leave-taking, they should say, ”Good-bye”
(c) Boys must stand and give greetings when a teacher or a visitor enters their classroom.
When the teacher or the visitor leaves, the boys must again stand and say ”Good-bye,
Sir/Madam”.
(d) A boy wishing to see a staff in any common room must knock on the door and wait.
5. P.E. Lessons
(a) Clothing: Boys should wear proper P.E. uniform and white shoes with rubber soles
during P.E. lessons.
(b) Boys must change their clothes in the changing rooms, not in the class-rooms.
(c) Exemption from P.E. for periods longer than one month may only be granted by the
Principal on presentation of a medical certificate. For exemption from a single lesson, a
boy must report to the P.E. teacher personally and obtain his permission.
(d) Boys, wishing to have friendly matches with students of other schools on the school
basketball court, must obtain approval from the Principal.
6. Security of personal property
It is the individual responsibility to safeguard his own property. Boys having lessons in
special rooms must carry their school bags along with them.
Boys should not bring to school valuable articles or large amount of money. The school will
not be responsible for any loss of such things.
7. Lost Property
All articles found are to be taken to the teacher –in-charge, to whom the articles should be
reported.

A list of articles not claimed will be put on the school notice board at regular intervals. Any
property not claimed within two weeks after a notice has been put up may be disposed of.
8. Classroom Regulation
Special regulations are issued.
9. Disciplinary Actions
Student offenders may be given Major Black Marks, Minor Black Marks, Defect Points,
Written Warning, or Verbal Warning according to the extent of seriousness of their
offences. Boys found committing serious offences such as stealing, fighting, cheating in
examinations or being triad society members are liable to be suspended from school.
10. Punctuality
(a) Boys must arrive at school and enter their classroom before the first bell in the morning
and after the lunch break. Boys who fail to do so will be marked late. Students who are
frequently late will be given warning or defect points.
(b) In the morning and the last 15 minutes of the lunch break, all boys must enter the school
through the main entrance at Causeway Road.
(c) Latecomers should report to the prefect-on-duty or the clerical staff. The prefect or
clerical staff will keep their student ID cards for reference. Students should collect their
ID cards from the discipline teachers after school.
11. Leaving the school premises
No boys may leave the school during school hours without permission from his form-teacher.
Boys who have to leave early must fill in an Early Leave Permission-Form” obtainable from
their form-teacher and hand it to the minor staff on duty at the school main entrance on
leaving,
12. Absence
(a) A boy requiring leave of absence for urgent private affairs must bring a letter from his
parents, addressed to his form-teacher asking for such leave. Permission must be
obtained in advance.
(b) After absence due to sickness, a boy must bring a letter of explanation to his formteacher and, if necessary, a medical certificate.
(c) Any boy feeling ill must report to the class-teacher. In the case of injury, it must be
reported to the Principal at once.
(d) Boys requiring a long leave of absence for private affairs should obtain prior permission
from the school.
(e) A boy who wishes to leave early during school hours with valid reasons, such as
sickness, should first obtain a duly signed Early Leave Permission Form from his classteacher.

13. Change of address or personal particulars
Any change of address or other important personal particulars must be reported at once to
the class-teacher.
14. Withdrawal from school
Boys withdrawing from school must bring a formal letter from their parents. They must also
give back their student identity cards to the school.
15. Photos on certificate, etc.
For all pictures on certificate, testimonials or documents, boys must be photographed in
school uniform with the school tie or the school badge being visible.
16. Study room and free study periods
From half an hour after school to 7:00 p.m., Room 111 is specially reserved for students’ self
study purpose. For free study periods, S5, S6 and S7 boys may use the Main Library, SAC
or any quiet corner of the school during the day.
17. Library and gymnasium
Special regulations are issued.
18. The tuckshop
Boys are not allowed to go to the tuckshop for food or drink during lessons, free periods, or
at change of lessons.
19. Fire
When the fire alarm (continuous ringing of electric and/or hand bells for laboratory accidents)
sounds, all boys must proceed at once to the particular playground/ locations as directed by
the school.
20. Cleanliness
(a) Students must not litter the school premises.
(b) Eating and drinking are allowed in the classroom only in the lunch break.
(c) Lunch boxes or soft drink cans and boxes should not be dumped in the classrooms’
waste paper baskets, but into the litter bins along the corridors.
(d) Soft drinks, soups or food in liquid form must be consumed inside the tuck shop and
bottles must not be taken away.
(e) Always keep the corridor and basketball courts clean.

21. Prefects and Monitors
Prefects and Monitors are responsible for the general discipline of the school and their
instructions and advice must be obeyed at all times.
22. Posters, circulars, bulletins, etc.
(a) Prior to display onto the notice boards, all posters must be approved by the Principal
and signed by the Teacher-in-charge and stamped with the school chop.
(b) Club circulars must be approved by the school and signed by the Teacher-in-charge.
(d) Club bulletins, class bulletins, alumni’s albums etc., should be checked by the
teacher(s)-in-charge and approved by the school before publication.

Be polite and friendly. Boys should give greetings to visitors,
teachers, staff and schoolmates in the morning. When a teacher or a
visitor enters or leaves their classroom, boys must stand and give
greeting.
A boy wishing to enter a classroom must knock on the door and
wait.
Boys should respect their teachers. They have to put up their hands
to ask for the teacher’s permission before a question is raised.
Boys should be well-prepared for their lessons by bringing their
own textbooks and stationery.
Boys should follow their teachers’ instructions and be attentive in
class.
Boys should be honest. They should do their homework by
themselves. Never cheat in a test or examination.
Boys should help keep their classroom clean and safe so as to
provide an ideal learning environment for their schoolmates.
Boys should help keep their classroom’s discipline in order.
To foster a perfect learning environment, boys are advised not to
bring in unnecessary stuffs such as mobile phones, MD players,
walkmans, etc., back to school.
Eating or drinking is not allowed in the classroom. Boys should eat
and drink only at the tuckshop.
Boys should queue up outside the classroom quietly before going to
other rooms for lessons.
Boys should help conserve energy by switching off the lights and
other electrical appliances before leaving for other rooms.
Boys should help protect public properties such as lockers,
blackboards, chairs, doors, etc.
Boys should ask for teacher’s permission before using any AV aids
and IT appliances.
