For the second year running, Peter Hunter Blair, Nether Cleugh, Dalry, Castle
Douglas, secured the Championship with a very stylish pair of heifers. The two-year
old bulling heifers, Doon of Urr Anonymous daughters, Nerys Olive of Nether
Cleugh and Imogen Orvieto of Nether Cleugh sold to Mrs Shona McKinnon, Garrarie,
Whithorn, Newton Stewart for 950gns and 700gns respectively.
The reserve champion pair came from the M/s R & K Drysdale Ltd, Moor House,
Eyemouth reduction sale, the incalf heifers by Glenkiln Godzilla, Honour of Moor
House and Hopeful of Moor House went home with M/s Ballantyne, Clynelish Farm,
Clynelish, Brora, Highland for 500gns and 550gns respectively.
Dennis and Margaret Gall, Gall-way herd, Boquhan Home Farm, Kippen, Stirling had
a tremendous day receiving the top and second top price for their reduction entries.
Lady Diana 2nd of Gall-way, a three year old heifer was sold with her 10month old
heifer calf at foot, Lady Diana 3rd of Gall-way for 2700gns to Miss Heather Moore,
Ballaharry Famrs, Ltd, Vitchal Cottage, Ballavitchal Road, Crosby, Isle of Man..
Miss Moore also paid the next top price of 2000gns for 22 month old heifer Lady
Silverbell 5th of Gall-way, this Blackcraig Krypton daughter has outstanding blood
lines as her dam was 2003 Junior Champion at National Show Kelso, 2004 Champion
Galloway at Royal Highland Show and 2005 1st prize young cow at National Show
Dalmally. The Gall’s other entry Lady Diana 1st of Gall-way realised 1600gns, this
2005 Reserve Junior champion at Royal Highland Show is off home with Mrs M
Templeton, Carslae Farm, Newton Stewart.
Only half of the bulls forward were sold, with two bulls both realising 1500gns. R &
K Drysdale, Moor House High Spirit of Moor House sold to Ardwall Farms, Ardwall,
Gatehouse of Fleet and J & W Wilson, Kirkmabreck, Creetown Kirkmabreck Nimrod
sold to Society’s Chairman Jim Ross, Romesbeoch, Shawhead, Dumfries. Ardwall
Farm also took home Burnedge Ethan Teale sold by R & K Drysdale for 1200gns.
The other four-figure price was for GH Webster, Kingsford, Stewarton, Ayrshire,
Lochdochart Daisy L286 which was sold for 1800gns to Mr G McIntyre, Fairnbank,
Moniaive, Thornhill
