Dear Park Street School Families, Monday, April 18th, 2011 To help celebrate Earth Day which is on April 22nd our Grade 5 classe will be participating in a ‘Litterless Snack and Lunch Challenge’ on Thursday, April 21st. On this day, your child is asked to pack a litterless snack and lunch where they throw nothing away after they are done eating. Below is some information about how to pack a litterless lunch. Simply, this means using reusable lunch containers rather than disposable bags/containers and single serving items. You will find that though it takes a little more work to pack the lunch, in the long run, these lunches are healthier for the environment and will save you money! Smarter choices are also preferred, such as recyclable containers or compostable items. The class will be monitoring the amount of "litter" that is collected from snacks and lunches during the day.
