group of PAWS’ teams.

Our purposes for providing
this emergency pet therapy
are as follows:
**To volunteer with our
therapy pets to provide some
comfort to community
members who have been relocated to a temporary
location or shelter.
**To also provide pet therapy
to the first responders
(firefighters, police,
emergency medical
technicians, others) during a
stressful situation
**To provide some activity
for children as a diversion to
parents through the PAWS
for Reading program, if
needed
**To ease the stress of
parents while completing
required paperwork in the
situation

own an affectionate dog or
cat, have good people skills
and would be of assistance
in emergency situations are
invited to join this group after
completing an extensive
program that goes beyond
the regularly required PAWS’
training. Required for joining
are the following:
 STEX testing at the
Advanced Level & maintain
this level
 Additional training provided
by PAWS for emergency
teams
 Satisfactory completion of
Introduction to the National
Incident Management
System 100 course
 Satisfactory completion of
Introduction to the Incident
Command System 800
course. [Both courses are
provided FREE by the
Delaware Emergency
Management
Agency
(DEMA)
which is a
branch of the Federal
Emergency Management
Agency (FEMA).]
 Maintain up-to-date pet
records from your
veterinarian including
shots, dog license, required
