The Third Workshop: Presenting Your Research
11 March 2010, 11am-5pm
at SRHE, 44 Bedford Row, London WC1R 4LL
Following two successful workshops, SRHE provides a further opportunity for newer researchers to present on a part of their research
into an aspect of higher education amongst peers and more established researchers. Presenters will receive feedback on their
presentation both from the perspective of what they present and from the perspective of competence in presenting to an audience. There
will be time reserved for discussion about the more general aspects of presenting and skills development for researchers more widely,
including the questions of whether to and how to assess learning and attainment.
Presenters must be new to researching higher education. Those selected will be able to receive reimbursement of reasonable travel
costs for attending. Interested researchers should email Martin Gough (A.M.Gough@kent.ac.uk) in the first instance, explaining their
status (e.g. student, staff, number of years experience researching and presenting), affiliation and their topic for presenting, with a brief
abstract:(please send your proposal by 22nd February)
Please be aware that due to limited places for presenters, we shall select presenters on the basis of their abstract and the degree of their
experience, and we shall inform them by the 28th February. Those who are not selected to present, more experienced researchers and
others are welcome to attend and participate in discussions and the assessments of presenters.
Presenters and other participants will need to book their place in the normal way through the SRHE Office: Society members can attend
for free and there is a modest charge for non-members (see below). Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
This workshop forms a part of the research project directed by Martin Gough and funded by the Centre for Excellence in Preparing for
Academic Practice, entitled: “Evaluation of Researcher Support Programmes: Assessment within Development Events, and the Attitudes
and Experiences towards Academic Careers Provision, of Early Career Academics (ECAs)”
