WFM 6305 : Coastal Zone Management
October 2013 Semester
Group Project
Policy:
(1) The group project will be worth 4 homework assignments.
(2) Each group will select a topic within the given broad areas in consultation with the class and following
the guideline for topic selection.
(3) The project will focus on the coastal zone management of Bangladesh with an underlying focus on
IWRM. Although the project should be mainly based on secondary information, primary data may be
also used if relevant.
(4) Each group will submit a one-page outline of the project within one week of topic selection.
(5) A focal point (person) from each group will coordinate the group work. However, each member of the
group will be equally responsible for the group work. Individual performance will be assessed from time
to time and due credit will be awarded.
(6) Each group will submit a professional-quality report (20-30 pages) on the project work one week before
the last class.
(7) Each group will give a 20-minute group presentation in the last class. The presentation will be followed
by discussion and questions by the course teachers and students.
(8) Group and individual grades will be assigned based on project report, presentation and question-answer.
(9) The topics should be selected from the following broad areas:
(i) Disaster, Mitigation and Adaptation
(ii) Ecosystem and Livelihood
(iii) Land and Water Management, and Community Participation
(iv) Development Interventions
