Press Release
Date: 13th June 2005
Annual conference moves to Oxford
After several years in Cambridge the BIFM’s annual conference will be in
Oxford next year. Delegates will swap light blue for dark blue and punting on
the Cam for strolling by the Isis as the event moves to Keble College Oxford
(27th – 29th March 2006).
Leadership will be the theme of next year’s conference, which will build on the
success of this year’s gathering. New features, such as the popular Fringe
sessions and visits to interesting local facilities, will be retained and enhanced.
A strong programme along with the BIFM’s noted entertainment, hospitality
and networking opportunities is expected to attract delegates from across the
profession.
Explaining the decision to move to Oxford, BIFM chief executive Ian Fielder
said: “Cambridge has worked well for us but it was time for a change. Keble
offers superb facilities in a compact layout which retains the collegiate
atmosphere that delegates like but offers more flexibility for programming.
Keble’s Dining Hall is magnificent and the accommodation is excellent.”
Founded in 1870, Keble is one of the largest Oxford colleges. The original
polychrome buildings are complemented by award-winning modern
developments including the Sloane Robinson and Arco buildings by architect
Rick Mather.
