Art 207 | project two Name______________________________ When shooting this assignment shoot only in daylight, with the exception of 15-17 and 24-26. Set your ISO at 200 or 400 unless stated otherwise. All images that do not involve bracketing should be properly exposed using equivalent exposures. You will turn in all images on a disc along with this sheet with your exposure notes. For this first assignment you only need to turn in jpegs. DEPTH OF FIELD — Find or create a scene with a foreground (2-3 feet away), middle ground (5-15 feet away), and background. Keep your focus and composition the same but change your f-stop. Remember to shoot equivalent exposures. Aperture Shutter Speed 1 F4 @ __________ 2 F8 @ __________ 3 F16 @ __________ Shoot a scene keeping the same aperture setting and focal length starting 3 feet away from the subject you’re photographing. Moving back to 10 feet and finally 30 feet. Mark your exposure. Aperture Shutter Speed 4 f/______ ___________ 5 f/______ ___________ 6 f/______ ___________ MOTION—Using manual control of shutter speed, choose any subject and show different types of motion such as motion blur, stopped action, and panning. Aperture Shutter Speed 7 f/______ __________ MOTION BLUR 8 f/______ __________ FREEZING MOTION 9 f/______ __________ PANNING (shutter speed 1/15 or slower is recommended) BRACKETING—Photograph a scene that is primarily white or dominated by a white subject or a black object on a black background. Make the image with the appropriate meter exposure. Then, overexpose and underexpose first by one stop, then by two stops. Photograph the results and mark your exposures. Aperture Shutter Speed 10 Normal f/______ ___________ 11 +1 stop f/______ ___________ 12 + 2 stops f/______ ___________ 13 -1 stop f/______ ___________ 14 -2 stops f/______ ___________ Set your White Balance setting to Daylight. Photograph three different scenes with different light sources that are not the sun (Tungsten lamp, fluorescent, candlelight, computer monito etc.) Remember to change it back to AWB (Auto White Balance) once you’ve shot these three. Aperture Shutter Speed 15 f/______ ___________ 16 f/______ ___________ 17 f/______ ___________ Photograph someone with a light source behind them. Example: a portrait at sunset where the person’s back is to the sun. 1st - meter the entire scene, take the image and mark your readings. Aperture Shutter Speed 18 f/______ ___________ 2nd – use the same meter reading and over expose it by one stop (N +1) 19 f/______ ___________ 3rd – meter off the person. (walk up to the person or zoom your lens in, take a meter reading from their face, use this exposure, return to original distance and take the shot). 20 f/______ ___________ ISO—For the next images you will be adjusting the ISO on your camera for each shot. If you have a tripod, it is recommended you use it for the next 6 images. Photograph a scene in daylight, and be sure to frame your composition the same in each shot. ISO Aperture Shutter Speed 21 lowest f/ ______ ___________ 22 400 f/ ______ ___________ 23 highest f/ ______ ___________ Do the same as above, but photograph a scene at night or in low light. ISO Aperture Shutter Speed 24 lowest f/ ______ ___________ 25 400 f/ ______ ___________ 26 highest f/ ______ ___________ This assignment will be turned in on a disc or flash drive. The first 26 images will be turned in as jpegs in order. Title the files 1_yourlastname.jpg, 2_yourlastname.jpg, etc. Shoot 10 additional images of your choice thinking about some of the creative controls you’ve learned above, including depth of field (shallow or deep) and controlling motion. SUGGESTIONS: consider framing, composition, selective focus, moments of exposure, and light and shadow. Play around with shooting the same scene with different aperture & shutter combinations to see how the images will differ as you adjust your settings.
