Mission- building or group of buildings where missionaries do their work. Territory-an area of land. Militia-army of soldiers who are normally citizens, but who train to serve in emergencies. Reservations- land set aside for Native American use. Natural Resources-materials in nature like forests and minerals that are helpful to people. Culture-group of people who share the same beliefs and customs. Rural-having to do with life in the country. Urban- having to do with life in the city. Economy- country’s system of making, buying, and selling goods and services. Crude Oil- oil in its natural form. Canal- artificial waterway built for shipping or irrigation. Observatory-a building or station for observing, or watching objects in the sky. Badland-an area of worn-down hills where no life grows.
