PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Research Scientist, North Carolina A&T State University 05/2005 – Present

Conduct on research that provides cutting edge on advanced materials and smart structures. Major duties include multi-scale modeling, effective numerical solvers for mechanical engineering.

Post-Doc Associate, Army High Performance Computing Research Center 08/2002 – 05/2005

Conducted multi-disciplinary research and developed application software on high performance computers.

Key accomplishments:

Developed and provided lethality and survivability applications software for the armor and anti-armor structural designs which helped reduce design cycle times significantly.

Proposed an efficient solver to minimize the potential energy of ensemble within unsymmetric force fields. This work significantly reduced the time-cost of micro-scale-modeling (e.g., molecular dynamics, nano-modeling).

Post-Doc Associate, Department of Computer Science, University of Minnesota . 08/2001 – 08/2002

Conducted collaborative applied research on solving eigenvalue problems and linear equations. Maintained parallel algebraic recursive multilevel solvers (PARMS).

Key accomplishment: Developed and provided new scalable efficient polynomial filtered eigen-solver for quantum-mechanical material modeling to significantly accelerate the solution.

Research Assistant, University of Ulster , UK 08/1998-07/2001

Conducted research on the solvers for large-scale linear equations.

Key accomplishment: Developed and provided parallel polynomial preconditioners for the solution of symmetric linear equations.

Research Assistant, Chinese Academy of Sciences , Beijing 09/1995-07/1998

Responsible for the QA of parallel programs to develop standards and processes.

Key accomplishments:

 Developed Message Passing Interface on Scalable Coherence Interface.

 Design and develop an atomic SYN-sequence model to formulate the critical timing sequence of parallel programs.

Assistant Lecturer, Beijing Polytechnic University , Beijing 09/1992-2/1995

Conducted research in the area of fault-tolerance technique. Taught computer science courses and directed the fourth year student on their final year project. Consulted several industrial projects.

Key accomplishments:

 Instrumental in architect management information system for the People's Construction Bank of China.

 Test-generation system for VLSI's stuck fault.

System Engineer, Beijing Wire Communication Plant. 08/1990 – 08/1992

Responsible for CAD/image-process based printed circuit board (PCB) design.

Key accomplishment: Science and technology development (92) award valued worth $1,000,000.

EDUCATION

Ph.D. Computational Science, University of Ulster , UK. 09/2005
