Survey of Calculus Math 2043C MW 10:30 Fall 2007 Course information at mrtc.uark.edu Instructor: Mrs. Ann Marie Ziegler Telephone: 575-7231 e-mail: ziegler@uark.edu Office: SCEN 222 Office Hours: MW 9-10:15, 11:30-12:15, 1:30-2:15, 3:30-4:00 TRF probably in office Grade Total of 6 tests and final exam and in-class grade. Final exam score will be counted twice. Everyone must take the final. This is a total of 900 points. Grade cutoffs are: 90-A, 80-B, 70-C, 60-D. If you have taken all 6 tests, the final exam score can also be used to replace up to two lower scores. The in-class grade cannot be replaced. For instance, suppose your final is an 83. You have taken all 6 tests, and have one test score which is a 65, and another which is a 78. The 83 will replace both the 65 and the 78. In this case, your final exam score counts 4 times when figuring your grade. If you miss a test, the final will replace only the zero for the missed exam. This means that when you miss an exam, your grade on the final will be counted 3 times. Any missed test after the first missed exam will remain as a zero. If your grade on the final is not higher than any test, the final still counts 2 times. Attendance Points Class Attendance (2 pts per day) Read and understood syllabus sheet Drill Attendance (3 pts per 40 min./14 weeks) 58 points 10 points 42 points(Can make possible total higher by going to extra drills) 110 points The maximum possible total in-class grade that can be recorded for any student is 100. Even if you miss some classes or drills, you will still have a score of 90 or better. A score of 100 in attendance can make a 66 a C, 77 a B, or 88 an A. Don't look for any other bonus points at the end of the semester. If you take a test before I have finished teaching a module, stop by and tell me and I will give you attendance credit for any future class periods covering that module. If you have to miss a class, you may go to an extra drill to make up the missed points.
