Change List for the 2006.1 SCORM Engine

New Features

1.

Multilingual Capability – All of the visible GUI text in the SCORM Engine has been isolated and the framework is in place to support multiple languages.

2.

Package Properties Web Control – We added a new web control to our tool set that provides an interface for modifying all package properties. The properties have been logically organized and contain full explanations of their functionality. The web control will intelligently enable and disable relevant properties and it is fully skinnable to blend in with any application.

3.

Package Properties Presets – Now you can save commonly used package property configurations and apply them to other packages with a single click.

4.

Enabled Support for DB2 and OpenBase - The SCORM Engine is now compatible with these two database platforms.

5.

Web Services Integration – To date, all of our client integrations have involved tight integration via direct code communication. In this release we introduced a new option that uses web services resulting in a looser coupling and more flexible deployment options.

Product Improvements

1.

Clearer debug information - We re-phrased a portion of our debug information and added more context to make it easier to read and understand.

2.

Sequencer performance improvements – As we learn more and more about sequencing through actual usage, we continually find ways to optimize our sequencing engine.

3.

Extension of Always Flow to First SCO – This package property now allows SCORM1.2 courses to launch with either a message page or the first SCO.

4.

Extension of the Do Nothing rudimentary sequencing exit action – This package property setting was previously used mostly as a system placeholder for SCORM 2004 and AICC content. It is now a fully functional setting in SCORM 1.2.

5.

Improved 2004 Exit Behavior - Added code to ensure that single SCO 2004 content is always exited upon termination to avoid a situation where no navigational controls are available to the learner.

Compatibility Improvements

1.

Relaxed the case sensitivity restriction when comparing SCORM 1.2 interaction results against their correct type to handle true-false results from Lectora.

2.

Improved parser warnings to flag sequencing rules that reference undefined global objectives. Also provided more context information to parser warnings to make it easier to track down problematic areas of the manifest.

Code Improvements

1.

Improved the web.config file structure to better enable sharing of configuration information.

2.

Enabled the persistence of client side debug information.

3.

Optimized the window opening dimensions to use as much screen space as possible on smaller resolutions.

4.

Leveraged the style sheet more in our skinning.

5.

Made a change to ensure the accuracy of the Active flag on all activities, under all standards, for more flexible skinning.

6.

Improved the look ahead sequencer to enable more real time evaluation.

Error Fixes

1.

Fixed a cursor mouse over problem in Firefox.

2.

Modified the rendering of course titles in the course menu frame to accept strangely encoded titles.

3.

Forced audit logging to be enabled when detailed logging is enabled to fix an error in the converse situation.

4.

Fixed an error with improper evaluation of the Constrain Choice sequencing parameter as well as the Objective

Measure Known status.

5.

Fixed an error relating to improper transfer of Progress Status to the look ahead sequencer.

6.

Removed an extra slash that was inserted in SCO launch path under certain circumstances

7.

Fixed an error with improper status rollup on deeply nested SCORM 1.2 courses.

8.

Fixed a “variable is undefined” error that was showing up in certain debug log entries.

9.

Fixed an error related to improper evaluation of Disabled sequencing rules by the look ahead sequencer.

10.

Clarified the message that is presented to the learner when previous requests are not allowed.
