TEXT: Introductory Mathematical Analysis for Business . . . , by Haeussler and Paul
(12th edition)
PREREQUISITE: A grade of “C” or higher in Math 1014 or the appropriate placement.
MATH 1303, designed for use with a laptop or personal computer with Maple 9 or 10 and Excel, will permit a broad spectrum of problems to be discussed and analyzed in the classroom. Homework assignments, some accomplished with the aid of a computer, should encourage the exploration of ideas that might otherwise be limited by time considerations or difficulty of computations.
A departmental final examination will be given in two parts on the first day of exams, beginning at 8 AM. The computer portion, using Maple and Excel, will be from 8-
8:30AM. There will be a 15-minute break and the written portion will be from 8:45-
10:25 AM on selected basic topics, without use of computers (calculators may be used).
The computer part of the final will constitute 20% and the written part will constitute
80% of the final exam grade.
Departmental Grading Policy:
Maple and Excel projects will constitute at least 15% of your grade.
The final exam will constitute at least 30% of your grade.
