Deborah Caldwell 1982 May 19 School News Heritage High & Reach Graduation Graduation was held on Friday June 1, 2012 for the first graduation of Reach Partnership School #341. Reach is a 6th thru 12th grade school. Reach had fifty one graduates at its first graduation. Principal Michael Frederick and Assistant Principal Rachel Mitchell proudly presented the graduates as they start their post secondary education to the world. This year’s recipient of the Lake Clifton Alumni Association scholarship award from Reach is Ms. Nyzia Nichols. Graduation was held on Saturday June 2, 2012 for Heritage High School’s 7th graduation. There were over 149 graduates who celebrated the seventh commencement of Heritage High. Former Principal Karen Lawrence was a special guest and returned to see her former students graduate. Acting Principal Stephanie Farmer and her staff were proud sending off their graduates out into the world. Alumni President Richard McCoy administered the alumni oath to the graduating class. This year’s recipient of the Lake Clifton Alumni Associations scholarship award is Sterling Foster. The LCAA congratulates all graduates as they start their college and work experiences. Lake Clifton Complex Athletic Department Sports Banquet On May 15, 2012, the athletic department under the direction of athletic director Herman (Tree) Harried recognized our athletes of the Lake Clifton Complex. Students that attend any of the campus schools are allowed to participate and play under the “Laker” name. Several of our male and female teams placed well in various sports throughout the year. Our boy’s basketball teams finished the year with great records. Our JV team won the city championship and the varsity team won the state championship. They made our schools and our alumni proud 2 of their accomplishments. These young men and women gave their very best efforts in each sport that they participated in. Alumni Fundraiser Alumni Fundraiser Day Trip To Atlantic City The Lake Clifton Alumni Association invites all alumni as well as friends to come with us as we plan to spend a fun filled day in Atlantic City New Jersey on Saturday June 30, 2012 from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. The cost is just $35.00 and a rebate of $20.00 will be given to all adults. Enjoy a day of shopping, sightseeing or any other activities that Atlantic City has to offer. Buses will leave from the corner of Preston and Eden Streets. The LCAA is always looking for ideas for fundraisers for the association. Cheryl Pasteur Retirement On June 1st several alumni attended a retirement party for one educator who was there at the "Lake" when it opened its doors in 1971. Cheryl Pasteur has retired after serving students in Baltimore City and Baltimore County for the past 36 years. She truly touched thousands of lives during her tenure as a teacher and administrator. Many of her colleagues and students who she has impacted throughout the years turned out at the Marriott Hunt Valley to honor her for her accomplishments and wish her well during this next chapter of her life. Alumnus Ovetta Thompson-Moore, Brenda Womack-Mitttnick, Linda Womack, and Richard McCoy were there to send her off to enjoy her retirement. Lucille Brooks Birthday Event The family of Lucille Marcus Brooks invites alumni and friends to attend her 100 th Birthday Concert on Saturday July 28, 2012. A choir is being formed with students who were taught by Mrs. Brooks. If you are a former student of Mrs. Brooks, won’t you consider honoring her by singing for her at her gala. They are: 4 1. Active membership - $25.00 yearly renewable annual dues. Active members are entitled to voting privileges in any organizational matter and are eligible to run for any elected office. 2. Student membership - $10.00 yearly renewable annual dues. Company Seeks Director of Programs (FT) Traveling Players Ensemble, Inc. has a camp for dedicated teens (ages 10-18) to perform classical texts in outdoor amphitheaters. Selected as a "Summer School in the Arts" by the NEA, Traveling Players Ensemble's camp provides intensive theatre training to small troupes of actors, culminating in backpacking trips to perform their show, giving teens and pre-teens the experience of wandering entertainers who carry dinner, tent and props all in their trusty pack. Joseph Burley 2002 Serving in Afghanistan Upcoming Meetings June General Meeting – will be held this Saturday June 16th from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Reach Partnership School at the Lake Clifton Campus. Refreshments will be served. July General Meeting – there will be no meeting in July. The association will be on vacation that month which will allow members to enjoy time with their families. The monthly meeting will start with the August 2012 meeting. Meetings are open to alumni of all graduating years of Lake Clifton, Lake Clifton/Eastern High School, Doris Johnson, Heritage High Schools and Reach Partnership, as well as teachers and staff persons. Spouses and children are also always welcome. As the LCAA continues to grow, we need your help. We have many committees that are in need of help. We need your talent and resources to continue to make a difference in the fight to save our school and help its students of today.
