Focus on the Equine Spine Annual Meeting Activities 2012
General announcement :
As part of the Annual Meeting activities 2012 the FES organization offers two opportunities to
participate in, respectively attend :
1. An interactive evening program with “FES-related” case presentations ;
2. A combined afternoon-evening program with a variety in “FES-related” topics with a high
content of research-related material .
Ad 1 :

Date : Thursday evening October 11, 2012 ;

Time schedule : 18.00 – 19.00 : ( possibility to participate in having ) dinner ;
19.15 – 19.45 : Introduction by Flemming Winberg, DVM ,
specialist in equine orthopaedics and surgery,
former Chef de Clinique of the Veterinary Hospital
in Helsingborgh , Sweden :
“Physiotherapy in the Traditional Veterinary Practice –
only an uphill Journey?”
“An attempt to describe the implementation of alternative
treatments into the traditional veterinary world.
The pitfalls, struggles and impacts this had on the current
argument on treatment of sports horses.”
19.45 – 22.15 : “FES-related” / poor performance horses case
presentations by 3 FES graduates :

Spine and Pelvis, Chiropractic and Rehabilitation”,
an overview of recent equine spinal-, chiropractic- and rehabilitationrelated studies ;
+ 18.30 – 19.15 : Dinner;
+ 19.30 – 20.15 :
Solange Schrijer, Equine Physiotherapist and Chiropractor, NED :
“Totilas in the Netherlands and in Germany” : A biomechanical analysis
by observation in “FES-structure” of the effects on ( spinal ) functioning
following different training styles applied to the former World Champion
Dressage.
+ 20.15 – 21.00 :

surgery, SWE : “The hospital directors view on alternative treatments
and rehabilitation – economically viable or a lifestyle issue?”
“How we can move from an item of curiosa to a sound business entity
Incorporated in modern veterinary practices.”

Dr.Kevin Haussler : “The Implementation of Manual Therapies and
Rehabilitation in the Veterinary Practice”:
“Overview of the role of manual therapies, physical modalities and
therapeutic exercises in a sports medicine and rehabilitation
practice”.
+ 22.15 – 23.00 : Closure at the bar .
- CEC : Continuing Education Credits assigned by the SVAK/ KNMvD for :

THE FRIDAY AFTERNOON & EVENING OCTOBER 12 PROGRAM : 4.75 points .

1. for FES Lecturers & Practical trainers : FREE, dinner included ;
2. for FES Base &/or Advanced Course graduates, members of the GGP :
€ 25,00 including dinner ;
FREE without participation in dinner ;
N.B. The organization will only be able to admit a limited number of 15 ( extra ) guests to
participate in this evening program because of the interactive character of this evening, and the fact
that the case presentations will be part of the regular program of the ( 30 ) Base Course students
2012-2013.
