ORAL PRESENTATION IN SPANISH. MRI for Evaluation of Sinosanal Carcinoma. Guillermo Concha Departamento de Radiología Oral y Maxilofacial, Universidad de los Andes, Facultad de Odontología, Santiago, Chile. Introduction and Objetives. Carcinomas of the nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses has low incidence, but may lead to significany morbidity and disfigurement. TC and MRI plays a key role in the evaluation of sinonasal tumours. Methods. We will review four areas where the MRI is useful for evaluating of sinosanal carcinoma, analyzing the images of three patients with this disease. Results and Discussion. The MRI is indicated when there are a complicated inflammation or a tumor. MRI has a high contrast resolution to analyze the tumor mass, allows better differentiation of the interface tumor-inflammation and determine the perineural tumor spread. It can be used in combination with CT, which provides the assessment of bone involvement and anatomic configuration. Conclusions. MRI has a higher contrast resolution, allows better tumor / inflammation differentiation and value perineural tumor spread.
