About Lakeside Virtual Academy
Lakeside Virtual Academy is a Kindergarten through 8th grade full time, tuition free public school for
families seeking alternatives to traditional classroom based education. Lakeside Virtual Academy offers
individualized learning at a flexible pace and schedule to accommodate a variety of learning styles in the
location that the family chooses, usually the home. Students receive an individualized program, which
recognizes their special needs, exceptional skills and creative talents. Parents receive exceptional guidance
and resources by a credentialed teacher to assist them with academic planning.
The Parent’s role
The parent or responsible adult serves as the primary learning coach for their child to help facilitate
progress through the daily lessons, manage their child’s daily schedule, and ensure work is completed at a
reasonable pace in accordance with the child’s needs.
The Teacher’s role
An experienced California certified and credentialed K-8 teacher is assigned to each child to support each
child’s educational needs for maximum success. The teacher communicates with parents and students on a
regular basis through e-mail, telephone, online and face-to-face meetings. Teachers remain constantly
involved: they provide academic support for both guardian and child, monitor progress, and develop
specific intervention plans as needed or requested.
Curriculum:
We offer a comprehensive, accredited, state-aligned curriculum that students can access 24 hours a
day. Our goal is to provide an innovative high quality educational model intertwined with global readiness
skills education and technology. You will be provided with online lessons, offline learning kits, and
teacher’s guides. The following curriculum and resources are available:

Math curriculum used is Pearson Envision Math Curriculum provided in Spanish and English
Language Arts curriculum used is Macmillan McGraw-Hill Treasures
Science curriculum used is Pearson Scott Foresman Science provided in Spanish and English
