PPOC offers patients and families a wide variety of practices of different sizes, patient populations, and approaches to care - as well as a history of collaboration and innovation that has helped to improve the performance of all member practices. CHICO is a member organization that includes PPOC, BCH and its Physician Organization (PO). CHICO and PPOC work collaboratively on many projects in the space of accountable care. The goals of the Accountable Care Program include the development of performance reporting, the identification of performance improvement opportunities and taking the lead and or participating in the design, implementation and monitoring of programs to support performance improvement. PRACTICUM POSITION DESCRIPTION Under the direction of PPOC Director for Quality Improvement or the CHICO Program Director of Accountable Care and the Summer Intern Program Manager(s), the Quality Improvement Intern(s) will assist in a variety of quality improvement efforts across the organization, from the development and execution of Learning Communities, to supporting member practices in quality improvement projects, to analyzing important quality data. Within CHICO work will encompass the development QI work related to the community of care and clinical capacity, the development of measures for episodes of care and process mapping to support quality outcomes. Utilizing key skills in quality improvement, operations management, public health program/intervention development, data analysis and/or communication, the Quality Improvement Intern(s) will help PPOC and CHICO advance its mission to provide the highest quality of care Summer Intern Job Document to patients and families served by member practices. The Quality Improvement Intern(s) will also provide support in areas across the organization, as projects and opportunities are identified. RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE OF WORK - Assist in the development and execution of PPOC-sponsored Learning Communities (learning collaborative) Assist in the identification, coordination, execution and support of quality improvement initiatives in PPOC member practices Assists in the collection and analysis of data to aid in the assessment of practice-based projects in quality improvement Assist in the development of tools associated with the transition from ICD-9 to ICD-10 (coding processes) Assist in analyses related to the strengthening the community of care and evaluating clinical capacity. Develop measure to support work around episodes of care and alternative payment models. Process mapping to support quality outcomes. Performs other responsibilities associated with the Quality Improvement initiatives as needed MINIMUM PREFERRED SKILLS - Work requires the knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts typically acquired through training towards a Masters in Public Health or other health related Masters - Work requires the knowledge of theories in quality improvement, operations management, data analysis and/or the development of public health interventions/programs - Work requires the analytical skills to resolve problems that require the use of basic scientific, mathematical, or technical principles - Work requires communication skills in order to effectively deal with conflicting views or issues and mediate fair solutions, or well developed writing skills - Work requires working knowledge of computer programs including all Microsoft products - Work requires listening and communication skills in order to effectively work and communicate with a variety of audiences. - Vehicle is required for travel to off-site meetings GENERAL INFORMATION Hours/Week: How to Apply: 30 – 40 Hours, 8:30 am – 4:00 pm Email Annemarie.tesora@childrens.harvard.edu
