A Training and Learning Day for parents of young children with Down’s syndrome
aged 2-11 years and for special and mainstream education professionals involved in
supporting the development of reading and communication

A day for parents of children with Down’s syndrome aged 2-11 years and for
those educational professionals, whether in special or mainstream settings, who
support children’s reading and communication.
This training day, led by Gillian Bird, will guide you through ways to teach reading
and writing and support children’s communication and language development.
Workshops include how to teach children to read whole words, learn about letters
and sounds, develop phonic skills and how to help children read with
understanding.
