Director of Philanthropy - Job Posting Hospice Giving Foundation Summary Director of Philanthropy: The Director of Philanthropy is an experienced professional who: Identifies, engages, cultivates, solicits, and stewards current and prospective donors in expanding their financial support of Hospice Giving Foundation. Is responsible for meeting annual revenue targets by working with a portfolio of donors and prospects to advance the mission of the organization. Promotes a culture of philanthropy within the Foundation by working with the board and staff to engage donors in value-based relationships. Provides opportunities donors that are meaningful and allow them to enrich our community by investing in the programs the Foundation supports. Areas of Responsibility include strategy development, board engagement, and the full scope of donor development and stewardship. The successful candidate must have a demonstrated track record of building a philanthropy program by collaborating with senior management, board members, leadership volunteers, and co-workers. The Director of Philanthropy must develop the annual Development Plan/Strategies and execute ongoing tracking mechanisms. The plan must include identification, solicitation, and cultivation of individuals, corporations, and foundations in order to ensure that respective gift goals are achieved. Qualifications: 1. Education: Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree/CFRE is highly desirable. 2. Experience: a. Minimum 5 years of philanthropy leadership experience, including major gifts. b. Significant expertise and knowledge of our local philanthropic community highly desirable. c. Progressive, successful experience in philanthropy and stays abreast of “best practices” d. Knowledge of planned/deferred giving e. Corporate and/or Business-to-Business sales leadership experience may be considered to augment years of fundraising experience. 3. Skills, Style, and Abilities: a. Personal style that is warm and engaging. Professional demeanor that is polished, yet approachable and can put others at ease. b. Ability to assess the nuances of and work effectively with multiple constituencies and audiences. c. Demonstrated ability to initiate fresh ideas; bring forth creative concepts; inspire others on the team; motivate and engage board and staff d. Excellent verbal and written skills, including strict attention to detail. Strong multi-tasking and problem-solving skills. e. A team player committed to developing and working within a collaborative environment and to ensuring the highest donor service orientation. f. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines. g. Proficiency in technology, donor database, and data analysis h.
