It is the responsibility of the student to ensure s/he submits the coursework assessment at the stated time and date, via hard copy or BBLearn. Absence to class does not justify a late submission. Policy In the absence of documented extenuating circumstances, a student who does not submit a course-work assessment (i.e. project, paper, discussion on BBLearn) on the due date will receive a zero grade for that assignment. If extenuating circumstances apply, the student has to follow the procedure below. Procedure Each instance will be dealt with on a case by case basis by the Program Chair: 1. Students who miss (or expect to miss) a course-work assessment due to extenuating circumstances must meet the Program Chair with relevant documentation within 3 working days of the missed assessment. 2. Students are not to contact faculty members to request due date extensions. 3 of 7 LSH 2103 – Foundations for Reasoning 3. The Program Chair will decide if extenuating circumstances apply and may authorize a new due date for late submission. The student must be ready to submit the work any time as requested by the Chair. Missed in-class Assessment Guidelines Dates for all in- class and faculty-wide timed assessments (i.e. tests, presentations, oral defence, and debates) are set on the HCT portal and informed by the teacher at least two weeks before the assessment date. Other than documented illness or unforeseen emergency, there should be no reason for a student to miss or turn up late to an in-class assessment. Students who turn up more than 20 minutes late into an in-class assessment will not be allowed access and will have to follow the procedures below. It is the responsibility of the student to ensure s/he arrives in good time for an assessment on the correct day, time and place. Policy In the absence of extenuating circumstances, a student who misses an in-class timed assessment (i.e. tests, presentations, oral defences, or debates) will receive a zero grade for that assessment. If extenuating circumstances apply, the student has to follow the procedure below. Procedure Each instance will be dealt with on a case by case basis by the Program Chair: 1. Any student who attempts to gain marks on their project or assignment dishonestly by presenting another person’s work as their own without acknowledging the source of the information (including the internet) is considered to have plagiarised. When submitting a project or assignment, students must identify every source that has been consulted and used for the project or assignment. The penalty for plagiarism is severe and includes permanent dismissal from the College. We have read the above information and understand my responsibilities with regard to Academic Honesty while completing this assessment. وعليه أوقع ____________________________________ الطالب/توقيع الطالبة 5 of 7 LSH 2103 – Foundations for Reasoning Assessment Schedule Coursework - Essay: 60% Optional Analytical Reflection Papers 1, 2, 3 and 4 worth 20% each (Outcomes: 1,2,3) Coursework - Quiz: 10% A conceptual check of terms and concepts covered in the course.
