levels of Top Secret, Secret, and Confidential, and as being governed by Department of
Defense National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) requirements.

Information? Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) is a categorical designation that refers
to unclassified information that does not meet the standards for National Security Classification
under Executive Order 12958, as amended, but is (i) pertinent to the national interests of the
United States or to the important interests of entities outside the Federal Government, and (ii)
under law or policy requires protection from unauthorized disclosure, special handling
safeguards, or prescribed limits on exchange or dissemination. Henceforth, the designation CUI
replaces "Sensitive But Unclassified" (SBU).

Routing Approval Instructions:
1. Include attachments with original form.
2. After the Host Faculty Member and the Department Head sign form, send the original to the
Dean’s Office for signature.
3. Dean’s office will forward the signed original to the Office of Research and Graduate
Studies.
4. The Office of Research and Graduate Studies sends a copy to the Director of Human
Resources (for international scholars only)

To be read and completed by Visiting Scholar:
All Visiting Scholars will be subject to and required to observe all rules, regulations,
requirements and procedures of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, including but not limited
to safety, health, hours of work, and conduct. University Rules and Procedures are posted at
http://www.tamucc.edu/provost/university_rules/index.html. Upon arrival, International Visiting
Scholars must check in with the Director of Human Resources to verify their immigration status.
If a Visiting Scholar’s tenure at another institution involves projects of a proprietary nature that
may lead to potential conflicts of interest, the Visiting Scholar must sign a non-disclosure
agreement (Approval of Visiting Scholars form) regarding information acquired during the visit to
Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Such intellectual property may consist of unpublished
results, know-how, non-patentable information, patentable and/or other written or orally
transmitted information. The Visiting Scholar agrees that he/she will transmit no intellectual
property of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi acquired by the Visiting Scholar during the
period of appointment. All technical reports containing technical information by the Visiting
Scholar will be accompanied by an English translation, which will be authorized by the Host
Faculty Member for transmittal. No other technical information will be transmitted or disclosed
by the Visiting Scholar. If the work of the Visiting Scholar, or the facilities and equipment used to
support that work, are supported by a grant or contract, the Visiting Scholar agrees to comply
with the intellectual property provisions of that grant or contract.
The Visiting Scholar agrees to hold Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and The Texas A&M
University System, their Regents, officers, agents and employees, harmless from any loss,
claim, damage, or liability of any kind arising out of or in connection with this Agreement, except
to the extent that it is directly due to the negligent acts or omissions of any of the Regents,
officers, employees or agents of the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
