Position Statement (succinct statement of why the position exists)
The Senior Manager Fund Structure & Data will develop and manage the investment department’s plans and
processes regarding the management and distribution of data. This role will play a critical part in defining the
data architecture and the systems and processes to deliver the data to up-stream systems that support:





Portfolio reporting
Attribution
Portfolio modelling
Risk; and
Other analytics
This role will also oversee the design and maintenance of the Fund structure.

Co-ordinate the definition of a Future State Fund Structure & transition between Current – Future States:
- Define a Future State Fund Structure
(Accommodate traditional and potential Portfolio / Option / Asset Class investment structures)
- Transition to a Future State Fund Structure
(Address transition & operational complexities including Liquidity Management / Tax / Pricing)
- Co-ordinate the impact of a change in Fund Structure with the Fund’s Custodian
(Support the custodian’s effective implementation of a new Fund Structure

Responsible for defining the Investment Department Data Architecture
- Data Management Framework (Defining data sourcing / staging / storing / application)
- Data Management Solution (Making a single source of data available for multiple systems)
- Alignment for Fund Data Architecture principles

Responsible for co-ordinating the technical design, development and implementation of
- Investment Department Data Warehouse
- Exposure Reporting & Extended Analytics System
- Portfolio Attribution / Portfolio Modelling System / Risk Analytics

Responsible for the design implementation and management of data management protocols, processes
and rules

Responsible for Change Management & Integration related to data use in the Investment Department

Responsible for defining and documenting requirements for Investment Operations’ continuous
improvement initiatives related to data management, systems and platforms

Oversee the development of the business cases & project plans for implementing / refining new and
existing:
- Investment Department Data
- Exposure Reporting & Extended Analytics Platform(s)
- Performance Attribution
- Portfolio Modelling Platform(s)
- Risk Analytics Platform(s)
Support the process of selecting & managing data, platforms and system service providers / vendor(s).


Qualifications (Desired, but not mandatory, depending on Industry experience)


Tertiary qualifications in Business, Commerce, Finance, Accounting and / or related Industry discipline
Relevant Industry related Professional Membership (e.g. FINSIA)
Experience Profile:















Broad / Deep Investment Operations experience from within the Financial Services Sector
Senior Executive experience with proven record of operating at the CEO / CIO / COO / CFO level along
with strong stakeholder engagement skills
Demonstrated ability to develop new capability, implement new platforms and maintain existing systems
Demonstrated ability to operate in a dynamic and evolving operating environment
Demonstrated ability to communicate project outcomes to various stakeholder levels
Demonstrated leadership role in the development & enhancement of existing & new applications
(Defining, designing, implementing and supporting new systems and processes)
Demonstrated ability to build strong and sustainable working relationships, and be able to influence key
stakeholder to achieve define outcomes
Demonstrated record of delivering projects in the financial services sector

Additional Information

This position description is indicative of the range of job requirements and accurately reflects the
requirements of the role at the time of writing. Due to the nature of the work environment changes may
occur to this role over time. The job comprises other duties as required.

The Investment Operations Platforms & Programs Team is responsible for operationalising the Investment
Management Department strategic agenda. The Team develops and deploys new investment management
platforms, systems, solutions and improvement initiatives. The Team also has responsibility for ensuring
that existing investment management platforms and systems are maintained and continuously improved.

The Investment Operations Platforms & Programs Team works closely with the Investment Department
leadership and takes projects and initiatives from “early stage initiation” through to the actual “deployment”
of new systems, processes and capability into the Investment Department.

The Senior Manager of Data – Management, Systems and Reporting will be responsible for articulating the
Investment Department’s strategic agenda for the FY2015 – 2017 period and for defining an operational
plan for the delivery of the strategic agenda to the management of data. This will include, but not be limited
to, engaging with internal and external stakeholders, (system, platform and data) vendors and ensuring
processes and systems are robust, scalable and aligned to the emerging Fund approach to data
