Reciprocal Educational Exchange Programs (REEP): This requires a Memorandum of Understanding between 2 universities. Please check with the director of your International Office if an agreement of Exchange exists between your university and UH. Students applying as REEP exchange students can do so for 1 semester to 1 year. Under this program tuition and some fees are waived. The students will have to pay Health Insurance - $555 per semester (or as announced); ISSSO Orientation Fee - $75; Exchange Fee $75; and Admission fee - $75(paid on-line while applying for admission via Applytexas.org). In addition, (Bacterial Meningitis vaccine to be taken in home country 10 days prior to arrival) and any other departmental fees. Please note that fee changes are applicable at any time. b. Full Paying Exchange Program or Government Scholarship: Students applying to study at UH under a specific Memorandum of Understanding that does not have the reciprocal exchange waiver or departmental scholar waiver, will be paying full tuition and fees for each semester. c. Departmental Scholarships are also generated after an agreement is executed between your university and ours. Students should read the following very carefully in order to apply for exchange. STEP – II Please fill in the Exchange Student Pre-Approval form and email it to the contact person of your respective department mentioned in the table above. Also please email the pre-approval form to pfernandes@uh.edu or dmgree2@central.uh.edu and wait for confirmation of approval. After receiving the letter of confirmation, start the application to UH as directed below in STEP III. You will be requested to send documents according to the required list. STEP - III Go to www.applytexas.org in order to fill up an online application. Choose International Transfer Application, please put non-degree seeking on the application while choosing the program, fill up all details, and take a print out of an application and send it to the contact person mentioned against the college – see information given above. STEP – IV Please pay $75 application fees online while filling up your application. Please note that this application fees is non refundable. STEP – V After you complete your online application UH will send you the PeopleSoft ID. Please note it and send it along with your documents. STEP – VI Send in all the following required documents mentioned below in the checklist to the college contact. Your International Office should mail the documents to the UH contact. If you are applying for a Master’s program you must produce the original Bachelor’s degree certificate and transcript. If you wish to have originals back please inform the contact person. Please send you’re your documents according to the Application Checklist given in the following page. They need to put school code # 6870 for University of Houston on the form when they go for their exams or inform ETS via their website. Ordering Test Score Academic Transcript Upon successful completion of your study, the Transcript Office will provide you with official English transcript for your home university. A payment of $ 10 is required. You will need to fill up the Transcript Request Form. Transcript Request Form Fees, Finance and Scholarship Tuition Fee According to the REEP agreement, the Reciprocal Educational Exchange Program student needs to pay tuition fees to his/her home university rather than the host university. Admission Fee ($75), Exchange Fee ($75), Health Insurance ($555) and some departmental Fees are mandatory for exchange students to pay. (Please Note: Fees are subject to change). Students from universities that have no student exchange agreement with UH will need to apply as a regular International Student and pay tuition fee as well as other fees at UH which are compulsory on their own in order to admit themselves as regular international students. Cost of Housing Student dormitory: $2,500-$5,000 per semester (5 months) (This is just an estimate cost, depending on type of accommodation you opt for that is semi-private, single, double, etc.) Off-campus: $1800-$4000 USD per semester On-Campus Living Accommodation Details Residential Life & Housing Application It is mandatory to submit a signed Bacterial Meningitis Form (For details click here). Living Cost Living expenses range from $ 350 to $ 650 per month, depending on individual lifestyle. Scholarships 1. No scholarships are available for REEP Students at UH. All scholarships should be given by the home university or home government. They will however receive a waiver for tuition and some fees. 2. Competitive scholarships/waiver is given to those students selected by the respective departments. Health Insurance Health Insurance It is mandatory that all Exchange students will have to pay UH Health Insurance of $ 555, click here for more information. Fees are subject to change any time. Visa Information: Exchange Students F-1 Visa will be issued for all Reciprocal Educational Exchange Program (REEP). Visa Extension An exchange student can study for 2 full semesters, but it is mandatory to receive approval from Ms. Parul Fernandes, Director – OISP to request an extension every semester.
