Every student is allowed up to five calendar years to
complete the MS Programme.
MS Programme:
The University is offering Postgraduate Programmes

MS in Mathematics
MS Admission Requirements:
1. Bachelor Degree of Engineering from a
recognized University with a minimum of 1st
division in the relevant field or equivalent. For
MS in Mathematics, First Division in M.Sc. (16
years education).
2. Graduate Assessment Test GAT-GENERAL with
minimum 50%.
3. The candidate will have to qualify the admission
test and interview.
Programme Details:
Time Limit
The MS Programmes are of minimum two academic
years consisting of four Semesters of Course Work
and Thesis.
Postgraduate Programme-SSUET
Classes:
The classes are held from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. during
Monday to Friday. Each class is of 90 minutes
duration per course. Depending upon the number of
courses taken in a Semester, the students normally
has to attend classes two to three times in a week
Students can take minimum 01 and maximum 03
courses per Semester
MS Degree Requirements:
For completion of the MS Degree, the student must
complete 30 credit hours as follows. The student can
choose “A” or “B”

Course Work: 24 credit hours (8 courses).
A student of MS in addition to completing 8
courses of 3 credit hours each has the following
options, with the approval of Post Graduate
Programme Committee.
a) Undertaking a 6 credit hours MS thesis spread
over two semesters.
OR
b) Two additional courses in his field of
specialization.
“B”
9 Courses of 3 credit hours each and a Project Report
of 3 credit hours.
CGPA of 3.0 minimum.
Procedure for Application:
Application for admission into the MS degree
Programme must be made in writing on the
prescribed form available from Sir Syed University of
Engineering and Technology, Karachi. The
application should be addressed to the Registrar and
delivered either by hand, by courier or through
registered post to the office of the Postgraduate
Programme (PGP) Room No. FFT-04 Block F, SSUET.

Admission Test Format
Test will be multiple choice type, 25% questions will
be from English and Mathematics and 75% from the
