Job Posting INTERNATIONALS TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION SPECIALIST (Prince George’s County, MD) Internationals Network’s Mission is to provide quality education for recently arrived immigrants by growing and sustaining a strong national network of innovative International High Schools, while broadening our impact by sharing proven best practices and influencing policy for English Language Learners (ELLs) on a national scale. Our Work Working closely with local education departments, schools, community based organizations, and partner organizations, Internationals Network designs and opens new high schools as well as provides professional development and technical assistance to educators serving the recently arrived immigrant English Language Learner high school students. Sustaining a strong national network of innovative public high schools, Internationals Network is led by a team of practitioners’ that work with 19 International High Schools and small learning communities nationwide. There are 15 schools in our New York City regional network, two in our California Bay Area network, one academy in Alexandria, VA and one academy in Washington, D.C. In addition to the support we provide to our network of schools, we also provide professional development to schools and districts outside our network. Position Summary Internationals Network seeks an experienced professional educator as a Technology Integration Specialist to provide leadership, support, and professional development that will sustain the school's use of technology for improved instruction, communication and student achievement. The Instructional Technology Specialist will join a school-based team at two new schools that provides pedagogical and technical support for the development of a richer learning environment for students. Both schools are opening as part of the Carnegie Corporation of New York’s Opportunity by Design initiative that is supporting the partnership between Internationals Prince George’s County Public Schools and CASA de Maryland to open two schools based on ten successful school design principles. The Technology Integration Specialist will support schools to develop a competency based learning model and a blended learning program for anytime, anywhere learning, by working with teams to design a long-term technology plan. This includes identifying the hardware and software needed to successfully implement a model program that integrates the ten design principles and the Internationals core principles for serving ELLs. The Technology Integration Specialist will also complete regular reporting and documentation as required. The position is full-time beginning Spring 2015 through Spring 2017 with an opportunity to continue working in the Prince George’s County schools. Key Responsibilities • Developing and presenting differentiated technology training for teachers and school staff in a wide variety of instructional applications for the purpose of achieving each school's instructional goals, enhancing staff productivity, and improving student learning. • Acting as the liaison between the school staff and division-wide technology resources and as the technology point of contact for the school. • Managing a wide variety of central and local accounts as well as the school's web team. Acting as an on-site consultant, advising in all aspects of instructional technology and providing just-in-time support for school staff members in the areas of curriculum connections, troubleshooting, and appropriate use of software Collaborating with teachers in their schools to plan lessons and model best practices in integrating technology into all facets of the curriculum. Facilitate the development and implementation of the technology plan and implementation of the School Improvement Plan as it relates to the use of technology for instructional support of student achievement. Support teachers in their use of technology in all curricular areas. Coordinate professional development activities directly related to the integrated use of technology in all content areas. Communicate with the school staff and community about training, equipment, software, curriculum materials, and other technology resources. Act as the school's liaison to professional technology organizations for resource alignment and professional development. Supervise the operation and use of any site-based technology in order to assure curriculum and instructional alignment and effective use of technology resources at the school site. (May facilitate planning and resources necessary for acquisition and maintenance of site technology.) Encourage and assist individual faculty members to realize “best practices” in education through selective application of appropriate technology. Publicize the successful use of educational technology at the school site and disseminate information to faculty about other successful uses of technology in their discipline. Assist in implementing technological tools that enhance faculty-student and student-student interaction (e.g. automated e-mail distribution lists for classes, viewing class lists and advisees online, on-line discussion groups, class web pages, on-line slide collections, and web-based on-line courses). Identify learning outcomes of technology-enhanced pedagogical strategies, and develop appropriate assessments of the effectiveness of these strategies.
