STAND UNITED FOR ENGLAND’S NEW CAMPAIGN Canterbury has taken inspiration from two of the game’s fiercest foes for its latest campaign for England Rugby, with its contrasting red and white stripes designed to encourage rugby rivals to stand together in support of England. Members of the England team modelled the new collection in an exclusive photoshoot. The campaign, which will be fully integrated through retail, advertising, and a series of social media initiatives, events & competitions, will help to tell the story of the rich chapter in rugby history. It pays tribute to the most famous rugby painting of them all, ‘The Battle of the Roses: Yorkshire V Lancashire’, which depicts a late 19th century tussle between the game’s two early powerhouses. The fierce nature of the rivalry not only dominated rugby in the late 19th century, but also shaped the England team, with most of its players selected from the two counties. It’s this spirit of togetherness in the face of rivalry that has inspired not only Canterbury’s latest campaign but also the limited edition ‘1871’ collection and alternate shirt which feature. To mark the launch of the campaign, current England players including Richard Wigglesworth, Ben Morgan, Geoff Parling, Ben Foden, Tom Wood and Danny Care fully embraced the rugby fashion of the late 1800s as they modelled the stylish clothing in an exclusive photoshoot. Taking its name from the year the RFU was inaugurated, ‘1871’ is Canterbury’s limited edition collection of traditional-styled classic rugby shirts in both iconic red and white stripes and solid colours, t-shirts, polo shirts. The new red and white striped collection follows on from the first ‘1871’ range which was released in 2012, and proved popular with rugby fans seeking a high quality lifestyle clothing to support the England team in style. -ENDSFor further media information please contact: Fay Silverthorne at GUNG HO Susannah Lee at GUNG HO Tom Parker at GUNG HO fay@gunghoco.com susannah@gunghoco.com tom@gunghoco.com +44 (0) 121 604 6366 +44 (0) 121 604 6366 +44 (0) 121 604 6366 About Canterbury Canterbury has more than 100 years of history in rugby and has previously provided playing shirts to the New Zealand All Blacks, Australia, and Ireland.
