Engaging in Promising Practices A Call for Program Submissions The Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving-Institution (AANAPISI) is hosting a 1.5 day conference for national AANAPISIs and Washington State higher education institutions to convene and discuss the current engaging practices within Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs). The event is intended for practitioners to learn, engage and exchange promising practices to support student success through the MSI designation. South Seattle College will host the conference on Friday, February 6 and Saturday, February 7, 2015 in Seattle, WA. You can read more information on the conference on the AANAPISI website. We are seeking workshop proposals that focus on engaging practitioners on relevant and innovative practices that pertain to MSI institutions and non-institutions with a particular focus on transformative teaching and learning, student development, cross-campus collaboration, and assessment methods to support student success. These workshops will be an hour and a half (1.5 hours) long. Proposal Guidelines: Faculty and staff members from Minority-Serving Institutions and AANAPISIs can submit their proposals. • The Minority-Serving Institution designation and its impact on the specific student populations (i.e. Latino/a, Asian American & Pacific Islander, Native, and/or African American) being served. • Student services programs/promising models that incorporates the MSI designation/initiatives and methods to support student success. • Intersections of student academic success and student development. • Culturally infused curriculum and pedagogy on teaching, learning and student engagement in the classroom. • The use of data collection, assessment and key findings for MSI promising practices, and ways non-MSIs can incorporate on their campuses. • Collaborative practices and partnerships across campus through MSI initiatives.
