THE FA GROUP - ROLE PROFILE Job Title: Head Coach U20 England National Team For FIFA World Cup in Turkey 2013 (2 Month contract –15 May – 15 Jul 13) Reports To: Director of Football Development Grade: N/A and into Club England Board Job Purpose: The Summer of 2013 is an exciting one for England teams. The Senior team travel to Brazil and the U21s to the UEFA Euros in Israel having qualified for the 4th consecutive time. The success at U19 level last year has meant that England has also qualified for the FIFA U20 World Cup in Turkey and the U19s will be trying to qualify for the UEFA Finals in July. The number of teams and tournaments has created a rare opportunity for a coach holding the UEFA Pro-Licence (or the FA Coaching Diploma equivalent) to manage the U20 England team for this one off, prestigious tournament. The Football Association are recruiting for an U20 Head Coach for a 2 month period (15th May until 15th July 2013.) NB there may be a few days required prior to this to attend the draw and key preparation meetings if feasible for the successful candidate. The overall purpose of this position: To oversee the Under 20s England National team at the FIFA U20 World Cup in Turkey in the Summer of 2013 (actual tournament starting 21st June with the Final played on the 13th July 2013). This is a 2 month position which includes: Final planning for the tournament in conjunction with Club England and Football Development Squad selection in conjunction with the Senior, U20 and U19 National coaches Assistance with player release with club / Manager visits of likely players and club / league communications Attendance at training camp pre tournament Management of coaching and performance / medical staff End of season scouting/watching of squad players Travelling with team and staff to the FIFA World Cup in Turkey in June to start tournament on 21st (draw still to be made) All training and team schedules in conjunction with support staff The mentoring and support of 2/3 young coaches as part of the FA Coaching Academy programme for ex-England players during the tournament Management of scouting and opposition game reports Completion of performance clock feedback for all players as part of the Elite Player Performance Plan in FA written format for the benefit of clubs, coaches and players G:\F.A. Key Accountabilities: National Development Teams Be the National Head Coach of the U20 England team for the 2013 FIFA World Cup Attend and lead the training camp (details TBC) Work with the Performance / Medical staff to integrate team support Work with the Performance Analysis and Talent Identification staff to integrate and maximise support Create and maintain a positive learning environment for players and staff during the tournament Work with Managers and Academy staff to ensure early notification of tournaments and fixtures to assist player release, promoting enforcement of the rules where required Maintain close relationships and contact with the other national coaches ensuring clear communication channels between Senior, U21, U20, and U19 coaches in particular Complete reports and data as instructed to ensure processes are followed and administration completed Work with operational and administrative support to ensure all tournament logistics, schedules and arrangements are delivered to the highest standards Deliver a post tournament report and DVD showing highlights and challenges as well as a personal review of the football played EPPP Collate and assess player performance clocks from clubs prior to the tournament to consider individual targets and development points during tournament Complete player feedback at the end of the tournament as part of their Performance clocks ensuring accurate, consistent records are kept in agreed FA format Follow up performance clock input with club visits and conversations with coaches after the tournament Enhanced CRB Check Required: YES Key Internal Relationships Director of Football Development Head of National Teams Managing Director Club England Director of Elite Development England National Coach and staff G:\F.A.
