Referral criteria to bariatric
team
All referrals to the bariatric surgery service come from the
tier 3 weight management clinic at RCHT. Both services use
the NICE guidance as their criteria for referral. BMI 40 or
above or BMI 35 or above with at least one obesity related
comorbidity.

Carbs and Cals app provides a simple and easy to use
resource for people who want a visual aid to
identifying how many calories and how many grams
of carbohydrate are in foods. It is available from the
apple store and also through the Google play store
for users of android smart phones.
Diabetes UK Tracker smartphone app. Allows
smartphone users to log and track a range of levels:
blood glucose, insulin, carbohydrates, calories,
weight and ketones. It is available via iTunes app
store or Google play store. More information on this
