Publishing Guide Congratulations on your decision to use The New Business Kit (NBK). Please read this document in its entirety before publishing. CreateSpace print-on-demand allows you to produce an attention-getting book efficiently and cost effectively (As low as $2.15 per copy with no minimum orders). Remember you have the rights to reproduce the NBK and certain protections exist. To tailor the NBK to your firm there are a number of areas you need to customize. STEP 1: CUSTOMIZE YOUR FIRM INFORMATION Insert your firm's logo. Make sure your logo looks good in black and white. Alternatively you can print your book in full color for an additional fee. Insert your firm's contact details. Edit the footer. HINT: To quickly convert to your firm's details do a replace all. To help you identify all the California references, they will appear in red type in the word document file. California Users: Change the red type to black. Non-California Users: Substitute the name of your state and the applicable information such as form numbers and state websites. HINT: To help highlight ALL California references, click on Find | Enter California in the box and select Highlight All in the Reading Highlight drop down box. See the order form on the final page. NOTE: Be careful not to change the formatting of the headings of the book. Designated headings are required when creating the Table of Contents - See Step 4. STEP 4: UPDATE THE TABLE OF CONTENTS To update the TOC right click the current TOC, and click Update Field | Update All Fields. NOTE: This may affect the capitalization of the TOC. To return everything to Upper Caps, highlight the TOC and press Shift F3. NOTE: Make sure ALL Chapter title pages are on odd page numbers for formatting purposes. You may need to insert page breaks if you have made significant edits to the content. STEP 5: CHOOSE A NAME FOR YOUR BOOK Use the name Successful Business Kit, or be as locally specific as possible. Click on PROPERTIES and under the Adobe PDF Settings tab click on ADD a new Adobe PDF Page Size. Create a new size called NBK with the dimensions of 7 inches wide by 10 inches high. Proceed as normal to create a pdf. STEP 7: COVER DESIGN Download the “New Business Kit Cover” file. You will need Adobe Illustrator or a graphic designer with Adobe Illustrator to make changes to the cover of the book. Update your firm logo, contact details and title (if you've changed it). Do not change the font size on the spine title! 2020 Group USA offers a Cover Customization service for an additional $100 ($150 non-members) which includes the delivery of a print ready .pdf document. The cover of book file is specific for the 130 page NBK as it is currently. If you increase the size of the book with additional content, the cover may need additional resizing. Create a print ready .pdf file. STEP 7: UPLOAD YOUR FILES TO WWW.CREATESPACE.COM Create an account at www.createspace.com Click on Add New Title and follow the steps outlined. When prompted for the Primary Author enter 2020 Group USA. As this is license to reproduce, any other authors would be a violation of our copyright. To enter your details, on the same page, look for the Add Contributors section. Follow the steps outlined to complete the details and project upload. You will be prompted to designate a sales channel, which you can decline, or opt for Create Space eStore. Do not sell your book through these channels as multiple accounting firms throughout the country utilize the same content. The book is a marketing device for your business community. Once you upload the documents, a review process takes place. You will be emailed about any changes that must be made. Some changes are mandatory, for example, "the spine text is too large". Other changes are suggested changes. For example, your logo on the page 1 of the book maybe in color but you opted for black and white printing internally. Please make any necessary adjustments to your cover file and upload it again by logging in to createspace.com. The Interior file meets our submission requirements; it is not necessary for you to make any revisions to this file or upload it again. Additionally, we have noted the concerns listed below. You may choose to move forward with the below issues as-is; however, we wanted to bring them to your attention. The interior type selected for your book is Black and White with Bleed but the interior file does not contain bleed. Therefore, we have updated the interior type for your book to Black and White. Make any changes required and order your proof.
