PICOPREP MORNING PROCEDURE INFORMATION- COLONOSCOPY
( 2 x 15.5g sachets PicoPrep, 1 x 70g sachet Glycoprep-C)
2 Days Before Procedure
No Seeds or nuts
ON THE DAY BEFORE YOUR TEST:




You may have a light breakfast and a light lunch eg Poached eggs, stewed fruit, clear
soup, steamed chicken/fish (no seeds, nuts, bread, cereals, pasta or rice)
After your light lunch, you are to have clear fluids only for the remainder of the day (see
approved list of fluids at bottom of sheet).
No solid food, milk/milk products.
Mix Glycoprep-C with 1 litre of water and store in fridge
First Dose 3pm
Mix one sachet of Picoprep with boiling water (approx. 250ml, 1 glass)
Stir until dissolved and allow to cool.
Drink mixture slowly but completely.
This should be followed by a glass of an approved clear liquid
Second Dose 6pm
Drink Glycoprep-C (mixed into one litre of water) until completed.
This should take approximately one hour.
If you start to feel nauseated whilst drinking the preparation, slow down the rate of intake.
Third Dose 9pm
Mix second sachet of Picoprep with boiling water (approx. 250ml, 1 glass)
Stir until dissolved and allow to cool.
Drink mixture slowly but completely.
This should be followed by a glass of an approved clear liquid
You must drink clear fluids until you go to bed. Drink at least one glass of approved clear liquid
per hour.
Day of Procedure
You are to fast completely from midnight:
No food or drink, including water, on the day of your procedure.
At least 2 hours prior to appointment, take any prescribed medications with a small sip of
water.
Approved Clear Fluids List
Water, clear fruit juice (apple, pear, grape) lemon jelly, black tea, black coffee, bonox, Lucozade,
carbonated drinks, barley sugar, clear broth, clear fruit cordials (lemon) No red or purple
colours
ALTERNATE TIMING IF CANNOT BE HOME BY 3PM ON DAY BEFORE PROCEDURE:
First dose 5pm, Second dose 7pm, Third Dose 9pm
