Education department: 219-785-5485 d.huber@scentral.k12.in.us

Course Requirements

1.

Attend all class sessions. Attendance is VERY important. Be on time! This could make the difference between a letter grade.

2.

Do all assigned readings from required text, (B1) DRAWING ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE

BRAIN, by Betty Edwards, and (B2) LANDSCAPE DRAWING IN PENCIL, by Frank M. Renis.

Be prepared to discuss the assigned reading for the day.

3.

Participate in small group discussions, critiques, projects, and attend the TBA field trips, artist’s receptions, art shows and/or openings, or gallery walks or talks that we will schedule. Shall we venture into Chicago to the Art Institute on a Saturday, perhaps?

4.

Complete all art projects and assignments.

5.

Turn in all completed assignments for final review on Thursday before FINALS week . They will be returned to you when we meet during finals week.

Class Policies

1.

Always have #2 pencils, or a mechanical pencil, the prepackage art supplies, and the required two texts for class. The rest of the materials will be supplied for you. A white paper sketch book (9x12) would be good to have on hand.

2.

If you MUST be absent, check with someone to find out if there is a schedule or supply change.

3.

The syllabus schedule may change, but no time deadlines will be moved up. We can be flexible.

4.

Excused absences will have to be made up since this is a studio class in which we build consistently.

5.

No personal players allowed, but sometimes we will have CD’s.

6.

No cell phones or beepers on audible mode. Please switch them to the silent mode. Emergencies only.

7.

No texting in class, PLEASE. Do this before class or during our break time.
