How to prepare for your tutorial with a Peer Academic Writing Mentor

Ensure when you are registering you select the key areas you want to discuss in your tutorial slot. This will ensure that the mentor can prepare appropriately for your individual
tutorial.

Ensure you read and sign the Charter which explains what the mentor can and can’t do for you during your 45 minute tutorial. This will give you an idea of the types of help and
guidance that is on offer. The mentor can also signpost you to different services that you may want help or advice from.

Have a look at your submission date for your work and ensure you book well in advance to see a Writing Mentor.

Before you attend your slot have a think about what you want to discuss in more detail, make a few notes of the areas you need help with or advice and bring the notes to the tutorial.

Bring along an example of your written work or email an example beforehand to peeracademicwritingmentor@hope.ac.uk stating the time, date and location of your tutorial and your
mentor’s name.

Ensure you arrive on time and if you need to cancel the appointment try and give us plenty of notice, so that we can rearrange your tutorial and free up the allocated slot for another
student.
