The PHD will be testing the ability to dispense mass prophylaxis to the community. We will receive mock antibiotics at our warehouse and then provide them to partners who will then provide them to staff and clients in a closed POD (Point of Distribution) model. The PHD will also be exercising two open PODs which will include mass vaccination for the flu. ii) We will continue to plan and talk about this exercise as it draws near. Trainings will be held in October and early November. c) Oxygen Project i) Continue to work on having meetings with oxygen vendors. We have asked AMR to participate with us in our planning efforts because they have experience in working with the oxygen vendors. ii) Department of Health and Human Services is releasing a At-Risk Resiliency Interactive Map that should be out soon- www.phe.gov/arim (1) This map provides de-identified Medicare data for electricity dependent DME by state, county and zip code. Once this is available we can use it for planning to understand how many individuals we have in the county that is dependent on electricity. 4) LTC/SNF Training Dates/Topics and a) What topics do we want to cover in the trainings this year? i) Staffing during a disaster or emergency- many of staff work multiple jobs at different facilities; what do you do with their families? ii) Evacuating facility- where do they go and how do they get there? iii) Supplies to Support the facility during a disaster or emergency 1050 iv) Going to a shelter- American Red Cross Expectations b) LTC/SNF Training- July/August c) Home Health Training i) We will explore the possibility of having a training specific for Home Health Agencies in August. Home Health would still be invited and encouraged to attend the LTC/SNF trainings but we feel that if would be beneficial to have their own training to further emergency planning in their agencies., 5) Outpatient Training Topics 1110 a) Topics i) Shelter in Place and Evacuation b) Dates- July/August 6) Advisory Committee 1130 a) The current advisory committee members are ending their two year term- see the advisory committee meeting minutes to see the changes made. We are still looking for representatives for outpatient, LTC and student health. Standing Agenda Items Training/ Resources 1145 a) Thursday May 28 9:00-11:00 – Risk and Crisis Communication Exercise at Public Health Department 300 N. San Antonio Road b) CERT Class Santa Maria Partner Emergency/Disaster Plans a) EMS/PHD available to review plans to assure alignment with County plans. b) Be sure to include evacuation warning/order issued via telephone, AND reporting status and requesting assistance from PHD/EMS in your checklists. c) If you need any templates or examples of plans please let us know! Roundtable: Participant Update on Current Activities and Needs Fresenius Medical Care Dialysis- Every 3 months they test the ability of clients and staff to disconnect from dialysis machines LVMC- Participated in City of Lompoc- Ready, Set Go! event City of Santa Maria- 680 individuals trained in hands only CPR at the Strawberry Festival hoping to break 1000 at the fair; will also be teaching hands only CPR to 7th grade students. American Red Cross- Participated in Ready, Set Go! event; Home fire preparedness campaign in Santa Maria over 300 homes to install fire alarms- they will continue the campaign throughout the county SBNC- starting to work on shelter in place trainings for each of facilities VNHC- EOP completed for the agency and PHD is reviewing it. Currently finishing the EOP for Serenity House - Hospice volunteers trained to help develop grab and go bags for acute hospital patients - CERT training has been postponed hopefully it will happen in the fall Valle Verde- Residents completed a disaster drill on May 7th; will have a safety drill for staff in July and are currently working on updating their disaster plan. Samarkand- Still working on disaster plan- updates and revisions Marian Extended Care- updating EOP with modified HICS- roles and org charts. SB Cottage- HICS 5 training, Joint Commission/CMS; working to complete the after action for Ebola, Patient move drill in August, Goleta Valley is having Chempak moved; September will be hosting an event for preparedness month focusing on staff preparedness.
