Advanced Algebra Name:

If you are enrolled in Advanced Algebra, this means you are an experienced mathematics student and should understand the importance of personal practice. I suggest students complete the following assignments, in addition to our classwork, to help master the learning targets of our course. These assignments are not to be submitted to the teacher. They are for practicing and preparing for the unit assessment. Please keep and use as reference throughout the course and on assessments. It is the responsibility of the student to ask questions and check their work to ensure understanding. Answer keys are provided in the classroom. The skills assessed at the end of the unit are listed below as Learning Targets .

Learning Targets: I can…

 Solve for a specified variable in linear equations, quadratics, and systems in two-variables.

Manipulate equations with more than one variable to isolate a specified variable.

Apply properties of operations to undo, rearrange, or rewrite expressions and equations.

Determine the best method, or most efficient method, and apply a different method to check my work or prove my answer.

Determine if a solution is extraneous or erroneous (dividing by zero, negative distances, and square rooting with negatives are common examples of problematic solutions).

Write equations, inequalities, and systems of equations to model a problem and find solution(s).

Solve and simplify simple rational and radical equations (n th root… no x th roots)
