We are a young organization growing in leaps and bounds. We are excited for you to join us and experience the PAK. PAK relies on the generosity of our interns and volunteers to ensure the sustainability of our organization. Volunteers assist PAK with program operations, administrative duties, special events planning, and fundraising initiatives throughout the year to ensure the success of the organization. PAK has several types of positions available: Summer Camp Program Ponies and Kids holds a summer camp program. We are beginning to schedule week long camps running from 830 am to 430. We need a variety of volunteers, those with horse experience and those without. But, you must love working with kids. If you are interested in committing to volunteer at our camps please send an email to Wilene@poniesandkids.org by February 5th. Program Volunteers Individuals interested in participating in PAK’s programs work alongside staff as barn and property managers, horse leaders, and side walkers. These individuals interact closely with PAK’s clients and horses to ensure the highest quality lessons are provided on a daily basis. Administrative Individuals interested in administration would be assisting PAK in a range of duties from public relations to marketing, grant research and grant preparation. This group assists with the daily logistical needs of the organization to ensure the long term sustainability of its programs. Special Events and Outreach Individuals interested in helping PAK plan for and implement a variety of events throughout the year are welcome to join a committee operating year-round. From fundraisers to community awareness events, PAK is always looking for creative and energetic individuals to assist us ensure success in fundraising and community outreach. Program Volunteer Requirements We are always excited about gaining new volunteers at PAK. Horse experience is not required, but Program Volunteers must meet the following requirements: Must be at least 18 years old and able to work independently Must be able to take directions from knowledgeable staff, no matter their age Must not be rigid in personality and ways; must be open to change and grow Must attend a PAK internship/volunteer training Must be physically able to walk approximately one hour, jog occasionally, and hold arms up at shoulder height in order to support the rider during lessons o Barn duties may include pulling or loading hay in barn. Those with administration experience and those that have physical limitations are welcome to help out in the office doing lighter duties and un-mounted tasks Must be emotionally stable in order to deal appropriately with situations pertaining to riders and horses; good judgment is necessary o Patience and good life skills are necessary as we all are mentors and leaders to youth and young adults Must volunteer on a regular basis in order to experience the benefits of the program and to develop relationships with volunteers, staff, riders, and horses 2014 Volunteer Training Dates to be announced after reviewing applications Please Include… Please indicate (according to the list above) the type of internship/volunteer position you are most interested in.
