The PTO strives to create a community where teachers and staff can do their best work. Catered teacher lunch before school year. Fun event with photo booth to kick off school spirit. b. Bag of school supplies for each homeroom teacher c. 1st day of school snack for all teachers and staff d. 1st day of school snack for all bus drivers e. Next week bus drivers will each receive a RVES Spirit wear shirt 2) School Beautification a. Last year’s Boosterthon money will no longer be used to extend the bus line awning b. Purchased the planters for the front of the school c. Purchased IKEA cubbies outside of the main hallway restrooms to hold lunch boxes while children use the restroom d. Future plans i. Benches for the playground ii. Flags for the light poles e. Examples of teacher requests being considered i. Playground equipment ii. Playground storage iii. Water coolers iv. Cricket type machine 3) Spirit Wear a. Spirit wear has been added to the PTO website. Note: This functionality is a beta test for the company running the website. Please let Lori Metz know of any issues. b. Since school started collected just over $2000 c. Last year’s profit was $461.99 4) Spirit Rock a. Everything was donated in obtaining the spirit rock. PTO did not need to spend any funds. b. Martin Marietta Materials Arrowood Quarry donated the rock. Alan Heafner with Heafner’s Towing and Recovery transported the rock. Joey Bray with United Rentals donated the machinery and operated it to locate the rock at RVES. c. YTD collection - $860 d. Dates still open. Email RVESRock@gmail.com to inquire about reserving. 5) Spirit Nights a. Last year profit - $4035.97 b. Goal is having a spirit night twice a month c. Pelican’s brought in $138 d. Bruster’s is next Wednesday. Ms. Morris, Ms. Ballard & Ms. Swint will be scooping ice cream. Tips go back to their classrooms. e. Danny’s Pizza is in a couple weeks. We get a percentage of sales from the entire day come. Dine in, carryout, delivery all day count. 6) Popcorn a. Last year profit - $1407.12 b. This year’s collections for prepay - $1780 c. Looking for volunteers to help. Commitment is 1 Friday a month or even to be an alternate asked when needed. g. Contest winners were Ms. Ware & Ms. Wellons. They receive a Walmart gift card for use for classroom supplies. Individual winners were Izzy in Ms. Gribble’s class and Tiree in Ms. Morris’ class. They will receive a RVES spirit yellow cinch sack. Rebates a. Publix fobs – new this year. Available in tonight and in the front office. Never need to relink b. Bi-Lo – 65 cards linked so far c. Harris Teeter – 96 cards linked so far d. Amazon Smile – use now, but we will push around Christmas. e. School Mall – go to the website and then shop the online retailers who donate a percentage to our school. Clip & Save a. Clip & Save is our tag line for BoxTops, Labels for Education, and Coke Rewards b. BoxTops i. Last year profit - $4671.56 compared to ~$2400 the year before ii. Used for related arts needs. This year we gave each related arts teacher $200 to spend on needed supplies. c. Labels for Education i. From last year’s points we purchased 90 assorted playground items (playground balls, basketball, football, volleyball, soccer balls, jump ropes, skip-its). ii. This year’s goal is 50,000 points d. Coke Rewards i. New this year ii. 1 point = 1.5 cent (a cap is 3 points) iii. YTD – banked $33.99 worth of points (875 more caps ready to enter) iv. Weekly limit of 75 points per email address. v. Asking for email addresses to be used to enter points and donate to RVES. e. Ronald McDonald House can tabs i. Dave Senay built a new collection house which was on display. ii. In the past Guidance has run this collection. We will determine if PTO or Guidance will run it this year. iii. Tabs are donated to Ronald McDonald House to help with their funding. School Mall a. Last year profit - $2006.67 b. Tuesday folders will contain the book asking for addresses. A 1 time mailing is sent to the addresses regarding magazine subscriptions. c. RVES receives $2.25 per 11 addresses. Not based on purchase of magazines. PTO Partners and Sponsors a. Boosterthon shirt sponsors needed i. Sponsorships available $200 - $400. Shirts this year will also be used as field trip, field day, and spirit day shirts. Question Raised: Where will Boosterthon Run happen? Boosterthon will hopefully be run on the field behind the playground. Currently, though that field is unusable because of construction materials such as nails still present. Contact the district office to clean up the field. Astro turf that was originally planned is held up with a York County Commission. Article in the Fort Mill times this week discusses the issue. Backup plan is for Boosterthon to be run in the gym. Lori Vidonic brought up the issue that running in a muddy field last year ruined shoes and Boosterthon shirts. b. Gardening by the Cay i. Adopted our school ii. Will provide seasonal flowers for the planters out front iii. Potential future enhancements 1. Entrance Sign garden 2. Cedar raised flower beds for classroom use c. Forest Hills Church i. Given by Betsy Keldie, Forest Hills outreach coordinator ii. Forest Hills wants to bless the school, children and families. In the past, they have helped with Vetern’s Day Parade, Book Fair, and provided the relaunch t-shirts last year. iii. This year Forrest Hills gave each teacher a blessing bucket at the beginning of the year filled will supplies they need. They stocked the school supply closet. Betsy provided a $525 donation from money given during the school supply drive. iv. Upcoming projects 1. Community Day in Spring – currently planning with Mrs. Chinchilla 2. Christmas Village Toy Store – December 12 a. Churches collect donated toys b. Toys are priced 60-70% off retail c. 200 families will be invited to the store. Will work with Guidance to refer families. d. All proceeds go back to outreach partners. d. Communications i. eNews – goes out Sunday nights ii. Key points from 2015-16 budget o Increased the budget for income by almost $5000. o Plan is to still be in the black this year. o Currently have a deficit of $897 due to start of the year expenses. Income comes later in the year. Administrator’s Report Given by Angie Padillo Welcome to the new faces. Thankful for the PTO and Forrest Hills who are need for the school to be successful. Teachers love the PTO and volunteers. Off to a great start to the year. Family Math Night will be October 6. Dr. Nikki Newton will be our guest. She will also do professional development with the teachers that week. The theme will be Number Fluency. Announcements Themed Spirit Days have been approved. Look forward to those.
